Sky: Milan continue derby preparations with double session – Estupinan favoured to start

The derby between AC Milan and Inter is getting closer and closer, with at least one key doubt remaining for Massimiliano Allegri to resolve.

Concern arose in the 90th minute of Milan’s win over Cremonese when Bartesaghi won the corner that Strahinja Pavlovic scored the opening goal from. The Italian seemed to land awkwardly near the byline and he was immediately replaced, though scans ruled out any serious muscle issue.

Participation TBD

As Sky (via MilanNews) report, Massimiliano Allegri and his staff opted to impose a double training session for the squad to stay focused ahead of the Derby della Madonnina, which will take place at 20:45 CET at San Siro.

The coach will have to contend with some significant absences. Santiago Gimenez and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be out, but Matteo Gabbia will also be forced to watch from the stands, having undergone surgery yesterday for an inguinal hernia that will keep him sidelined for at least a month.

Bartesaghi’s condition remains to be assessed after suffering a strain in his right thigh flexor in Cremona. Fortunately, tests have ruled out any tear or further damage, but it remains to be when he can return to full training.

A test to assess the Italian’s condition is scheduled for tomorrow and there will also be one the day after. At the moment, Pervis Estupinan is the expected starter, given that there is no desire to risk making the issue worse.

  1. Hi Pippo you’ll be pleased to know that in the matches he’s started 7 were wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. So Milan has a great record when he starts…feel better?
