Marca: Milan interested in Napoli midfielder valued at €35m and could sacrifice Rebic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing Napoli forward Eljif Elmas this summer and have a plan to bring down his asking price, a report claims.

Marca writes how the 22-year-old has 6 goals and 6 assists so far this season and has put in some impressive performances to help Napoli hoist their way into the title discussion, but in the summer he could still move on with Milan interested as well as Inter.

The Spanish source even go so far as to claim that Ante Rebic could be offered up by the Rossoneri, with the management valuing both players at around €35m, but the idea does not appeal to Aurelio De Laurentiis who is a a tough negotiator.

The Inter speculation depends on Nicolo Barella’s situation, as he is constantly linked to big clubs, including Real Madrid. Elmas is under contract with Napoli until 2025, so any offer will have to be a very convincing one.

  1. Rebic is a versatile player with limitless stamina. I wouldn’t sell him when there are other useless passengers on the bus. He is a key player when you need muscles to brute force defense-focused teams.
Selling Rebic means we leave Leao without a sub. Just look at Rebic’s actions against Cagliari. He did Diaz’s job by covering the AMF zone and creating that potential assist to Calabria.
He was also great against Liverpool at the Enfield. And he is our top scorer against Juventus.
In the beginning of the season Rebic played as CF. Actually, it was the only clashes when Diaz was good because Rebic played closer to him by cleaning up space for Brahim.
Use him more. Even letting Leao rest is a good idea.
