AC Milan, this summer, have been busy on all fronts, and it could still continue. There are deals left to be done, and the figures could rise.
It has been a hectic few months since the season ended, and changes have been rife, but they needed to be. Milan ended the season in 8th, without European football and any season-defining silverware.

Of course, the Supercoppa Italiana was nice. However, it does not impact the finances of the following season.
Crazy figures
The squad has been transformed, thanks to some big sales, and as MilanNews reports, the club has ‘never earned as much in recent seasons’. Right now, more than €149 million has been made, which trumps summer.
In fact, before last summer, the last summer to bring more than €70m was in 2018. It is a crazy statistic which shows the level of business that has been conducted too. Of course, this summer has been a bit of an outlier, though.
Two stars have departed, which certainly raises the funds of this. However, if Theo Hernandez had remained – hypothetically speaking – and only one star had left, the total could still be similar at the end of the summer, if Yunus Musah departs.
Of course, the number will rise to a figure of around €180m if Musah leaves as well, but the €30m price tag would cover the loss of Theo. Quite ridiculous, indeed.

We are in a solid way even if it is not that great, if u remember the last 10 to 15 years u had players like Honda, Bertolacci, Armero, old Essien or even worse and u were on big minus. So this so far the last seasson just was bad cause now the truth comes out more and more players since time from Pioli throwed the venom and wanted to leave the club, the likes of Theo, Reijnders news were leaked from a city site in 12 December 2024 and what u expect, now the Thiaw transfer was since 1 year on move the player knew he would go but told nobody and u think this kind of players would give u 100% ? It was not the fault of the managment it was the fault of the players.
True true, its better to offload players who aren’t committed. But the way to get (most) top players to stay is to compete for silverware. If we are regularly in the last 8 of UCL for example, players will know we’re at or near the top.
But that needs a strong team that wins or almost, Serie A. It means paying a bit extra for that spot of quality. Not only focussing on the cheap guys you can flip for a quick buck.
Im hoping Jashari is the first building block, we spent a good amount on a Belgian league player if he does well let’s not sell him immediately for a slight profit.
Last season ACM win supercoppa and reach coppa italy final. IM win nothing and lose humiliating in final. In the last 5 years , ACM and IM win 1 scudetto, it is same result. Milan need to eat their humble pie for sometime, heck every Serie A team is eating a humble pie atm. No one has the money to drop 40M on an 18 year old Italian CB, when there are equally capable players who have more experience and cost way less. Being smart with the money is how Milan needs to move.
Until the league gets better sponsors and better TV deals. This issue of having to balance the books and spending accordingly will be this tight every year unless the club wins the league, goes on to make deep runs in the UCL and win other trophies.
This is a just the situation and that is why we need every team in Italy to be competing. Parma, Atalanta, Lazio, Roma, Inter, Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli and any other team in Italy has to compete for the league.
The problem is, to build your brand, you need the optimum sporting results, win trophies. If you don’t have top players, you just can’t. Milan lose the best players each year.
To buy top players, you need incomes. Milan (Italian teams) doesn’t have the optimum income from tickets sales because they still have to pay rent for the stadium, and neither income from big tv revenues.
The only way to move to the top are having a billionaire owner who spends, or grow talents and keep them while occasionally buy a marquee signing. Milan has been doing neither of them.
Billionaire cannot spend their own money anymore in club. If they can then Newcastle will spend more than liverpool since their owners are the richest . Mindset 1990 -2000 that owner can spend their money are no more. You can win trophy without top player and you make them top player after win trophy. ACM make theo, leao, tonali, kessie top player by winning scudetto, they are not top player before coming to ACM
Unless the government help with legislation and fast track the building of new stadiums, Serie A will continue be a second tier league. Player development also needs to improve. The FIGC are useless.
Well, the other side of the coin is that the premier league are inflating the price of players just because they have the cash to spend.
Milan would have suffered if not that it is a prestigious club.
Serie a needs to start taking some positive strides to make the league lucrative.
Good business is good business, as long as we aren’t making blunders like Manchester United we’re fine. Smart spending has always been the Milan way. If you look at our transfer history in the 90’s we always managed to break even through buying and selling, the problems came when we started spending stupid money on below average players like Honda, Essien, and the rest of the banter brigade. Look at how we obtained Seedorf from Inter, basically free, Cafu, free, Kaka 8m, etc etc. Scouting and a director that can make moves like Uncle Fester did is important.

Bring in a CF; offload Chuk, Bennacer, Adli, and Musah and we call it the summer.
It is interesting to me in the context of this article that we have yet to move Adli and Bennacer.
Adli might be on purpose. We have him stashed, he is a Milanista and he works as a squad player. If Musah is sold then Adli fills the hole and keeps us from having to scramble at the death of the Mercato.
Bennacer was injured. Came back and didn’t fit in his Milan shirt (looked like a sausage). Then he went and played for his national team before returning to the club and got hurt again. Then he _forced_ a last minute transfer in the winter. Then he got hurt, then he played below average.
And he is on pretty high wages.
We may get to the end of the summer and simply buy him out just to get him off the books.
I’ve not heard of any suitors for Chuk.
My point here is that your list is worth at most 30m (for Musah) at this point. 30m push what is in the coffers already should get us a CF. However, I believe a seasoned CB leader is more necessary if far less sexy.
