Radiosei: Milan enquire about Hellas Verona star in bid to hijack Lazio’s €15m move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in hijacking Lazio’s attempts to sign Hellas Verona midfielder Ivan Ilic, according to a report.

According to Radiosei (via PianetaMilan), the Rossoneri are rivalling Lazio for the 21-year-old Serbia international who impressed with Verona last season having made a permanent move from Manchester City in the summer of 2020.

Lazio want to sign Ilic in order to give some midfield quality to Maurizio Sarri, but their hands are tied by the situation Luis Alberto, and if he does not leave then the Biancocelesti will not have the funds to pull off the deal.

There seems to be an agreement between Lazio and Verona for Ilic on the basis of €12m plus €3m bonuses, but Ilic and his agent have not yet been contacted by Claudio Lotito’s club. In the last few hours Milan have made an enquiry over as the Gialloblù player seems to be of interest to Maldini and Massara.

For a fee of around €15m, Ilic could become a Milan player, and this is more or less the budget left at the disposal of the management. Last season, Ilic amassed 34 appearances across all competitions, with 2 goals and 5 assists.

  1. So far the best from all the other midfielders that we are connected to. However i remembered that Milan wanted Svanberg from Bolongna for a long time, he is a good mid as well. However i just checked on him and it seems he went in Wolsburg last month for only 9.90 mil. That’s a steal.

  2. I don’t think bidding war will happened between us and Lazio, unless if there are EPL clubs want to sign him. Our project focussing youth as core in the squad is more attractive to Lazio.
