SM: Milan expected to boost available funds as four players could leave this summer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could make some big savings to use in other areas this summer, as Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have some decisions to make regarding the squad.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, the idea Brahim Diaz’s loan move being made permanent is very difficult to imagine currently because the Spaniard is not fully convincing with his performances, and in the summer he could return to Madrid.

The Rossoneri had planned to spend around €20m to buy him outright, but could instead keep that amount for other investments that are more suited to Stefano Pioli’s style of play.

The same goes for Junior Messias who is struggling to show that he is worth betting on for the future, and it unlikely that the Rossoneri will pay the amount requested by Crotone, especially in light of the Brazilian’s somewhat disappointing weeks.

Then there are two players who are on the way out. Milan would have had to spend €6m net per season at least to renew Franck Kessie’s contract, while the feeling is that around €4m per year is needed for Romagnoli. Overall, the operation would have cost approximately €80m gross for the next four years.

The Milan captain is actually still in talks with the club, but as the weeks go by, the chances of an agreement are reduced. Ultimately from these ‘cuts’ Milan could already derive a treasure of €60m next summer.

  1. There are literally better free players than Diaz, a lot of contracts were canceled due to the situation with Russia so I don’t understand why aren’t we looking there. I mean Kvaratskhelia is a top talent for LW, if Leao isn’t interested in playing maybe we should sell him to PSG, he would fit in with Neymar perfectly.

  2. So we won’t renew Romagnoli at 4m??… seems really to be a poor decision. Keep Alessio, use the money for our terrible attack!

    1. You want to destroy Romagnoli career? He need starting spot for italy nation team called, while in AC Milan he is just bench warmer. It is not logic you give salary 4m euro nett to bench warmer while your starter Tomori just 3m euro nett and kalulu 500k euro nett ( not yet Renew, even if Renew only got 1m euro nett) . If you don’t want botman then our CB are Tomori ,kalulu,Kjaer,Romagnoli, gabbia. Seriously ? Starter salary like kalulu only 500k euro while fourth choice defender Romagnoli got 4m euro nett and highest paid between 4 our CB? What the different between you and Fassone/mirabelli then? You just use the same method with Fassone, sign or extend contract player with money power and not thinking the future financial club. I remember that stupid Fassone give Donna and Romagnoli huge pay rise to 6m euro nett , sign useless player like Reina salary 3m euro nett,Halilovic salary 3m euro nett,Strinic salary 2m euro nett. Buy 11 useless crap player 220m euro. Just tell me what is the different you and Fassone/mirabelli, only you can answer that

      1. What would you say about Zlatan and Olivie? 7 mil (14 mil gross) for the Swede are a waste?
I think that we should renew Alessio: captain, very descent defender, model professional, Italian, 27 yo, knows the team, the coach, the league well etc. Would you find a similar left-footed (or not) CB with that money?

    2. He ain’t worth 4 million. Plus you know who his agent is, I bet the disagreement is over his cut not Romagnoli’s wages.

  3. The problem is the management is not looking for quality n standard players . Instead of buying quality players they looking for free transfer players like origi. Milan is bigger than dis small players. Now we are in d champions league so we need better players to compute for d league n champions league
