AC Milan are weighing up an attempt to sign Naby Keita from Liverpool on a free transfer but there are a couple of key factors for them to mull over, a report claims.
According to Calciomercato.it, Milan are very close to securing the renewal of Ismael Bennacer but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are already thinking ahead for the summer and how to further reinforce the midfield without spending big on transfer fees.
Among the profiles that they are closely monitoring is Keita, who is not expected to renew his deal with Liverpool and therefore at the end of the season he should depart Anfield on a free transfer, something that appeals to Milan.
However, there are aspects that make this operation difficult on the face of things. Firstly there is the fact that the 27-year-old currently earns a salary of €7.5m net per season, which would be well above what any current Rossoneri player earns.
The second concern is his physical condition, as Keita has regularly been subject to various muscle injuries, and this season he has not yet made his debut in official competitions, with another stop recently added to the one at the end of August.
