Tuttosport: Milan fall to Europa League pace in the second half of the season – Allegri at his ‘lowest’

In games, AC Milan normally play better in the second half. However, their record for the season shows that in the second half, they are falling.

We recently wrote a feature about the timings of the Milan goals this season and there was a clear preference for the second half. In fact, it was deduced that Massimiliano Allegri prefers to soak up the game and then pounce after the half time team talk.

Unfortunately, this has not been the case as much recently, with the Rossoneri struggling slightly and it shows on a wider level.

Scudetto pace to…

In the first half of the season, the Diavolo contested the Scudetto rather heavily and they used their advantage well. Of course, there were a few issues. However, they were generally running at a Scudetto pace.

As MilanPress relays from this morning’s Tuttosport, they have now slowed significantly. It is now at a point where Allegri’s side are treating water and moving at a pace which would put them in the Europa League places.

From a 2.2 PPG average in the first half, they are now operating at a 1.75 PPG rate, a substantial difference. It would be enough to be in the top half, but even the UEFA Conference League would be a struggle with their current performances.

Is sounds familiar, doesn’t it….

  1. But the irrational Allegri-fans are still happy. I guess they won’t be in 3 weeks if (read: when) we continue to play with this “scared little girl” tactic where defending is all that matters. 🤷‍♂️
