It is fair to say that fans were not happy last night, and understandably so. AC Milan failed to perform to their best in a cup final, it was never going to be jolly.
In hindsight, you can probably suggest that there was too much pressure on the cup final. However, that is the fault of the club, rather than anyone else. A season cannot be made by the third to last game of the year – the stakes are too high.
For Milan though, this was the case.
They have not competed for the Scudetto, and a Champions League challenge followed suit pretty quickly after. Following that, the chances of Europe fell, and fell, and fell. However, they rose at the thought of a Coppa Italia redemption.
Of course, there is a chance of qualification through Serie A, but this was an ‘easier’ path, if not the only feasible one.
So, after failing to win last night, the Rossoneri are left questioning everything, with the future very unclear. What was not unclear though was the thoughts and feelings of the fans towards the senior members of the club.
As Milan News wrote last night, after another ‘shameful page’ in the recent history of the club, the fans’ anger was palpable with chants against the management heard loud and clear.
“Cardinale devi vendere” (Cardinale, you have to sell), “Questa società non ci merita” (This club does not deserve us), “Via le m*rde dal nostro Milan” (Get the sh*t out of our Milan) and finally, “Scaroni uomo di m*rda”(Scaroni, you sh*tty man).
Considering Cardinale had already been criticised earlier in the day for not being in attendance, it certainly has not been a good day for his stock. A very toxic atmosphere, indeed.
sack all, Scaroni, Moncada, Furlani, Ibrahimovic
bring Maldini, Tassoti, and Fabregas for the start
Waiting fabregas won come do here
“In hindsight, you can probably suggest that there was too much pressure on the cup final”, I completely disagree. The pressure was on Bologna and Italiano, not Milan. Italiano lost three major finals with Fiorentina. Bologna hadn’t won the Coppa Italia in 51 years. Bologna have been fighting for CL qualification in the league and were going through a poor run of form, risking seeing their season fall apart at the finish line.
Milan only lost the chance to hide behind a trophy and rewrite the history of two disastrous seasons with 250 million spent on around 20 players, most of whom are out or on their way out.
As a Milan fan, a win would have been nice, but it wouldn’t have changed my opinion of the these two seasons, the managmenent, the ownership, or the terrible transfers.
Red Bird should replace Cardinale first
So… Please educate us how Red Bird would replace him?
“Gerry Cardinale is the Founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of the firm. RedBird manages $12 billion of equity on behalf of a select group of blue-chip institutional and family office investors.”
Are you saying they would kick him out of the company he founded and is still leading? 🙂
There is a board of directors that can just him for performance. He will still have his shares but companies remove founder/owners all the time. Redbird board doesn’t care about this club.
And exactly why should/would they do that? Because Milan-fans want him gone? I don’t think that’s enough to people to start planning “hijacking” the company from its founder. 🙂
No they cant as you do realize that he is the majority share owner and owns something like 97-99% of the shares of the club. Nobody can sack him. Same as when Berlusconi owned the club those other share owners couldn’t do squat and neither did he actually have to do whatever what the other ceo’s or share owners wanted. Basically those meetings was more curtsey.
Yea the only way he goes is by defaulting on the massive loan and Elliot decide to take the club, they have done it before with amazing results following that. #Redbirdout
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
and what of it? if the stands will be full at the next match, and season tickets for the next season are bought, the money is right and that’s all that matters to them
You cheap on managers. Conte and De Zebri are enjoying success. Now they are trying similar tactics on sporting directors
The same group that said he gave them the best transfer window in years just two summers ago. Yea, ok…..
Yea that same group.
What a bunch of blow hards.
Spineless
#Cardinale not a soccer fans, his there for money, no one can remember the last time he was in the stadium for a game.
Sale, SALE, SALE.
@MB11 to remind you that was the way you guys was crying for Morata ex juve.
No it Faberglas.
The team needs a winner 🏆.
I am no fan of the ownership group and how they are operating but I find it amusing how everyone wants a new ownership group but then will inevitably complain about them too. The same thing happened with Elliott and Berlusconi before then. (No one misses the Chinese ownership between). Time clouds people’s memory apparently.
So should people keep quiet and let the ownership you are not a fan of, continue to destroy this historic club.
Because so far they have taken a workable project built by M/M and Pioli and torn it down.
Even Elliot were not this destructive. Redbird’s clock is winding down. And I for one am happy at that. So if people wanna protest and want them gone, I say let em
It’s been 3 years coming.
If you feel that unleashing your anger and frustration in this forum will move the needle in getting an investment fund to sell when there is little financial benefit in doing so right now, then go for it. Hopefully you find it cathartic. Just remember how you feel in this moment when the team loses under the next ownership group in x amount of years.
To add to my response, many on this same site were celebrating when Redbird took over from Elliott. My comment is merely a criticism of the selective memory many exhibit on here.
That said, the way this team has been run, I can understand it. Yesterday’s match was the most frustrated I have been in a long time watching our team play. Let’s just stop looking back at previous ownership groupd with rose-coloured glasses.
You bring small d!ck energy bro, this is the one and only honest truth I see here.
No one is looking at previous ownership with rose tinted glasses. Least of all me.
Redbird selling would be better. You say there is little financial benefit.
Everything and I mean everything everyone said from boban to Maldini to legends of the game, to even commenters here who saw this coming three years ago has come to pass.
The fact Redbird runs this club the way they do, shows they are not planning on lifting it to any greater heights. Least of all the heights they took it from M/M.
Such an ownership with such mentality is destructive and toxic to Milan. The fact that they threw away a man with clear ideas and a plan to pursue their hubris to this point of failure, tells me everything I need to know.
Redbird needs to GO. There might be little financial incentive for it according to you, but Milan is a football club FIRST with tradition and history, AND NOT A SOULESS BRAND so there is much sporting success incentive for Redbird to go.
After reading the interview of Boban, the response of the fattened Scaroni, and remembering the previous interview of Maldini, I don’t have hope for this Milan under Redbird.
My only hope now is that their business model crumbles and they go bankrupt and they are forced to sell.
These guys are destroying Milan.
Anyway it all started with Belusconi not ending his era well. And 8 years after his era we are still in it.
Absent from games, absent from investing in the club adequately, absent from any accountability, absent from any ground braking for a stadium, absent, absent from correcting a flawed philosophy, absent from the start, until the end.
He bought the team and we been left for dead since day one. When a club earning 250 to 400 million euros finishes markets with 40 million euros spent, you know the ownership is not interested in winning. Absent to any ambition.
He is a decoy for Elliott. They had the same people he was working with, advising as well as running the club before he bought it that Maldini, as well as Massara had to fight over with for every dime spent, every target he wanted as well.
Moneyball man was an investor and partner in developing, holds shares in Redbird’s scouting and analysis systems. He is trying to use us as a Guinea pig to sell his Intellectual Property to other teams later on. We are a feeble attempt of a proof of concept for him, a mere subject of his RND in football. Said it from the start. That’s why he removed everyone here and from Toulouse with any human connections in the game from managing the markets, put in his family members and associates in decision making roles. He even forced coaches to use his analytic team’s training programs, drills, tactics and routines at Toulouse, filming every session, with the coach acting as a mere messenger of his people’s instructions.
Don’t say I didn’t tell you so. That is why anyone with any backbone won’t come in as a sporting director. The person is just going to be puppet.
Everyone can sing and protest, but how about Milan fans put their money where their mouths have been?
Can they not raise 1.4Billion to buy out Cardinale? And raise another 300M to operate the club for a year to cover all those players contracts and bring back Maldini?
Milan fans right now should be sending letters and emails to rich Arab Princes to beg them to buy out the club.
That’s the only way to help. Sitting on your ass and being a keyboard warrior doesn’t help.
Put money where their mouth is? It’s us fans who contribute to those operational 300 millions through streaming, buying merchandise, attending games. We’re basically paying for their wages or at least contributing in majority.
This said, we have every right to complain. Next time you make a f00l out of yourself at least have an actual argument behind.
Apparently Mr Don up there is lacking on how the fanbase, any fanbase contributes financially heavily to the profits of their respective clubs
This fans that protest on stadium dont know that RedBird not control ACM, they are just puppet. They cannot sell ACM,they can only sell their stocks share. Look who have highest power authority in ACM, it is Furlani not Gery. Furlani are elliot worker. Elliot are the one that sacking boban & furlani sacking paolo maldini. ACM can only be saved if there is billionaire buy this club from elliot but need 2 billion euro to convince elliot to enter negotiating table after that the new owner can bring back Paolo maldini & boban in management
