Tuttosport: Milan fans ‘up in arms’ over ‘jarring’ Maignan and Rabiot decisions

This summer, AC Milan have made a few questionable decisions, such as allowing Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot to have another four days of holiday.

There has been plenty said about Milan in the mercato this summer, and any mistakes made there. Fans are on edge; it’s clear to see (and feel, for that matter) and anything can tip things further in any direction.

So, the news about Maignan and Rabiot certainly hasn’t helped.

A questionable decision

As Tuttosport writes, the decision to allow the extra holiday is jarring, especially considering the disparity surrounding the club currently. Even when you look at Inter, their World Cup players are all back with the club.

Yet, the Rossoneri have allowed a request that has ‘left everyone stunned’. Maignan’s situation is already questionable, after he missed Franco Baresi’s funeral – which would have perhaps allowed him to have some more time on vacation if it was ‘cut short’ to attend – but this is even more baffling.

It’s difficult to accept this decision, as the report states, simply because of how late things will be. Ultimately, they are going to return with less than a week to prepare for the first game of the season. Is that enough? We’ll see, but you’d imagine not after an extended holiday not offered to anyone else.

The Diavolo are playing with fire with this decision.

  1. Every decision is questionable, the definition is that there’s an alternative.

Will those few days’ extra holiday for very tired players make or break the season? If they do, we have bigger problems (which we obviously do).

With ‘supporters’ that question him for not going to a funeral of someone he barely knew in person or for asking for a few extra days’ leave, would it be any wonder if Mike wanted out?

How about instead of deciding everything is ‘questionable’ we get behind them instead? Crazy, I know…

    1. Which ones? “Supporters” questioning it is 25 people. It is nonsense of a story. Real Madrid had their French players that played come back today and they won’t train. I haven’t read a single story about that. The play in 11 days against someone. Milan plays in 12 days from today. 😀

Only id*ts keep moving this story forward. If you see someone thinking this is something outrageous, they are mo*ons. It is an IQ test.

          1. Sorry but you two are a bunch of “not too gifted” people if you don’t find this very, very concerning.
I already know that Max is a huge mo*on, too bad you share his opinion. And don’t reply to any of my comments from now on just because you chose to ignore me here and disrespected me by acting in that manner while I haven’t done the same to you, you won’t get an answer because of this, goodbye.

          2. Anyone that isn’t a little crying bi*tch like you is a mo*on? You’ve been whining about this for 5 days. You and 24 other clowns. AND NO ONE ELSE. I tried to find a single Real Madrid fan as stupid as you but there isn’t one. There isn’t even a single Spanish news outlet talking about how stupid Mourinho is and how Mbappe and Tchouameni are unprofessional. They are also all mo*ons. Only revolt is intelligent, the guy that is copy pasting articles from other websites into comments sections of a Milan fansite. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    2. He barely knew Baresi in person?! What? Baresi was the honorary vice-president of Milan, he was more or less present often. Even if he hadn’t been all that, Maignan should’ve made the gesture and interrupt his stupid vacation, he is the captain after all, that’s got to mean something and count for something…

    3. What do you mean by he hardly knew? Was Baresi not with them in Milano when they train and doesn’t he come to watch their games.

  2. F them for asking to rest for four more days and
F Amorim too for allowing them to do that and
for accepting that request, shame on all of them, this is a huge disgrace.

    1. Not pertaining to this article, butyou need to grow thicker skin to be on this site. You’ve been here long enough to know that. Don’t get worked up.

        1. I understand, you wouldn’t be smilling so much like a child otherwise. You are still developing, but essentially just a troll that needs feeding.

          1. What you consider falling, I see as feeding. Unnecessary and stupid on my part, sure, but I choose to entertain that silly idea of you having to say something interesting and meaningful once in a while. I just don’t bother myself with that, man, you’re not the center of my world and my universe. There is obviously something seriously wrong with you but why should I have to discern what comments of yours are normal and sincere and what are the product of that sc*izo part of your brain? That’s not my job and my duty.

  3. They both knew what they are doing, the two players want to leave milan so they want what will bring the spark, with this request they want the fans to start talking about it so they can take the chance.

  4. Not just because of this, it’s been built up from last season when his mind was already on Chelsea’s jersey. And then after month of doubts, he finally extended thanks to Tare, Allegri, and his excellent relation with Flippi.

And now they’re all gone he started to think about his decision again. Going all doubtful on world cup regarding his future. Not a single gesture on fellow captain passed away. And now this. So it’s understandable if some of the fans make this thing matters.

  5. I don’t understand why people are angry at Maignan and Rabiot when they should be angry at the management that allowed them to have extra vacation. The asked if they could have a longer vacation and the club accepted. Its not like they were supposed to show up but didn’t without informing the club

    1. Why did they ask (for) that in the first place? It’s like you are trying to totally exonerate and release them from responsibility. They mustn’t get away with this so easily.

    1. How is this a non-story? Just because Amorim has/had granted those four additional days (somebody from the club had to give that “green light”), doesn’t mean this is something that should go unnoticed now.

      1. Just read what most people think. Then think who is the lunatic in this story? Maybe the guy attacking anyone that doesn’t think like he does? You’re exactly like my nickname – brilliant.

        1. You are the one to talk, how hypocritical of you to accuse me of such things when you are so much worse when it comes to the intolerant attacks. I am not a saint by any stretch of the imagination but you…

        2. You can not tolerate idiots, therefore, you can not tolerate yourself. Why else would you fight online and go in circles like this, why else would you be banned for so many times and be forced to change nicknames? When I say that something is wrong with you, that is
not just some figure of speech, I really mean it, you are torn apart.

      2. Maignan can show up the day of the Torino game and still perform. Rabiot can show up the day before, get quick instructions and still outplay every midfielder Milan has.

Milan doesn’t have a serious project that needs to be taken seriously by any player of Rabiot’s or Maignan’s level. Nor is there any competence so far by the coach or management.

Do you think this would fly if Maldini was still around?

        1. OK, fair point, but how is any of this fair to the rest of the squad and what kind of (a) message is being sent this way, honestly? Let them submit a formal request to leave if they are not satisfied with the way things are. I am not young and unexperienced, I’v seen it all by now.

  6. People who get upset about those 4 extra days and dont understand it have obviously never ran a company or an organisation with people.

4 days arent gonna do sh*t, other then make 2 tired and dissappointed key players happy and more positive towards Amorim. Its a brilliant management move.

I do the same thing with my employees all the time. I do them big favours now and then that make no difference to me or the company, but a big difference to them. In return i get very happy and loyal, hard working employees who produce well over expectations.

    1. “I do the same thing with my employees all the time. I do them big favours now and then that make no difference to me or the company, but a big difference to them. In return i get very happy and loyal, hard working employees who produce well over expectations.”

Oh, Danny, if anything can be said about you, it’s that you are not shallow & stupid and I’d like to think that you are not naive either.
It makes a big difference to the coach, the rest of the players and
to the fans of AC MILAN. What kind of business are you running?
What about (company) team buliding, is this how you imagine it?

      1. It does not make any difference.

Amorim was the one who gave them more days off, because he is smart enough to know how to handle two key players, who had a gruesomely long season, are extremely disappointed in how last season ended, and probably are both physically and mentally at their lowest points.

They are getting the same number of vaction days as Modric f.ex. The other players doesnt care. Just as they didnt care about Leaos dumb comments and welcomed him back with smiles and hugs.

A few clueless fans will get upset for a little while. That doesnt matter.

At the end of the season this will be forgotten (it will be forgotten in a month).

Amorim will be judged by the result of the season. If he qualify for the CL people will be content. If he wins the scudetto he will be deemed a miracle worker. Noone will remember Mike and Adrians 4 “extra vaction days”. Amorim knows this. He gets two key players a little happier and more positively inclined to him at the cost of some bitching from a nobody reporter and a few fans at the forums. Cheap price.

Team building? There are two new players in the squad. These guys spend almost every day together the whole year. You seriously think 4 more days will make any difference what so ever?

    2. I also think ppl haven’t played a proper season of football but are here commenting lol 😂. I myself growing up recall after a season which finished in May/ June that July was complete rest and recovery. It took 4 whole weeks. The season which just finished you can feel it in your system, your entire body. When that’s finally gone you can only then start your way back to getting in shape. Failing that you’ll face burnout within a few games into the new season. Many clubs whose players play a summer tournament face this dilemma everytime. It’s isn’t my first rodeo. Like you said, let the guys rest. These are 2 class players who’ll get up to scratch in no time esp given how weak the rest of the squad is. Man management is key in this regard

  7. Gabbia for Captain,
Mike sign new contract so he can’t use “go as free” magic anymore to do whatever he want,
    disrespect Baresi is disrespect Milan
