GdS: Milan grappling with five renewals – latest on Kessie, Romagnoli, Theo, Bennacer and Leao

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are likely to say goodbye to Franck Kessie at the end of the season but Alessio Romagnoli could remain, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) takes a look at the various renewal situations that Milan will try and resolve in the next few weeks and months, beginning with captain Alessio Romagnoli and midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Milan management will talk about the extension of the contract of Romagnoli in the coming weeks after a meeting with Mino Raiola which took place a few days ago, meaning he certainly has a chance of staying as things stand.

However, the Kessie situation is ‘much more complicated’ and at the moment it seems ‘difficult’ to imagine that the Ivorian midfielder will extend his four-year relationship with the club.

Then there are Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer, who are considered pillars of the squad. The trio are under contract until 2024 but the Donnarumma, Calhanoglu and Kessie sagas have taught the leadership that acting ahead of time to extend contracts and give rewards via pay rises is important.
