PM: Milan aiming for five summer signings with one being a Bologna forward

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are aiming to make at least five summer signings when the season comes to an end and one of them could be Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini, a report claims.

As has been reported by Pianeta Milan, the Rossoneri are anticipating a busy summer window after not bringing anyone in during the winter window.

They would like to add a central defender, a left-back, a midfielder, a right winger and a striker. There could also be other arrivals depending on who leaves the club with players like Yacine Adli and Ante Rebic linked with moves away.

One player that Milan would like to bring in is Orsolini from Bologna who would replace either Alexis Saelemaekers or Junior Messias.

He has scored seven Serie A goals so far this season and he could be signed for a fee and salary that are within Milan’s parameters. Bologna have offered him a new deal to ward off interest.

  1. Messias is the logical one to leave , he is not as technical or tactical as Alexis, and he is already at the wrong side of 30, for all the hype recently, he still is a very average player , who will soon be exposed when he meets a superior opponent…

    1. I’d say Messias is underrated. For all the talk from people how he is average etc etc i have yet to see him preform poorly in a Milan shirt.

Best plan would be send Alexis on loan to get more play time and keep Messias till 2024, thats when his contract is done. Buy Orsolini this summer and see how he does. Funny enough he also has a contract till 2024 so he should be cheap

      1. I have always rated Orsolini and think we should have gone for him a couple of seasons back already. In terms of Italians Berardi has always overshadowed him in the eyes of folks, but Orsolini has posted pretty good numbers, albeit maybe a bit below Berardi. That said Bologna has been coached by less attack minded coaches vs. Sassuolo over the same period. Given one year left on contract, I think he could be had for 10m and it may not be a bad deal at all.

    2. Really, Messias is very wise player. the goal against Atalanta was a difficult one. he managed it.
Giroud missed a similar one like that.
      Messias is a great player.

      1. And Messias is a good scorer. Most of his goals are not that powerful but REALLY accurate shots in the bottom corner right next to the post. Sure, his right foot is absolutely useless as he demonstrated in last match but still… He converts most of his chances with a good ratio.

And selling Messias doesn’t make much sense. Who would pay anything for him really? No one. Saelemaekers on the other hand would make Milan gain some profit if sold. Plus I don’t think Milan could find a better player than Messias for the money they’ve spent on him. Especially when Pioli thinks everyone under 30 isn’t ready.

        1. agree with this… if messias sold could get 2-3 Mill….

I think Salemakers can go at least 15-17 Mill….

Messias would be happy with a backup role….

If milan can secure a good winger salemakers will go…

    3. Wrong side of 30?

Like Ibrahimovic, Giroud and Kjær who have all contributed to our success the last few seasons?

Messias with 4 goals and an assist in Serie A
Saladmaker with 0 goals and 1 assist.

Yup, let’s keep Saladmaker because he is young and tried hard 🤦‍♂️

(Yes, yes, Salad with 2 CL goals, still less than Messias)

      1. Wasn’t Messi just named player of the year? His approaching 40. Benzema was second. He ain’t under 30 either. Modric won his Ballon d’Or when he was 33.

  2. Is Pioli going to continue with the current 3-back system?
Will he continue with his failing AMs behind the striker or opt for out-and-out wingers.?
Will a switch to a 3-man MF with 2 CFs up top be necessited.?
Despite its success thus far, could Pioli be forced to change system again.?
    Will Leao extend.?
Will Pioli still be at the helm.?

Questions to which answers will have great effect on summer plans.

  3. Whoa. Ricardo Orsolini.
Still remember 7,8 years ago during a winter mercato Galliani trying to sign him while he was still playing in serie B, didn’t have 6,7 mil, I think, and instead he signed Deulofeu on loan.

  4. 5 players with 50 million? How is that going to work, if 30-40million (at least) is needed for a good young striker?
    Or… 5 free transfers!

    1. We only signed 2 players on free transfer since 19/20. Ibra and Origi. This is not the old Milan style who often signed players for free and offered unsustainably extremely-high salary figures.

  5. haha 5 players? i’ll call him Syeikh Cardinal
2 will be free transfers, 2 other is loan w/o to buy & 1 player below 30m with loan + obligation in instalement for 3 years..
all those is squad players from Lig1, Serie B & mid table Serie A

    1. And the problem is…??? Loan with option to buy is the most foolproof transfer strategy there is. You can’t spend money you don’t have. Especially when you’re under the FFP microscope of UEFA.

  6. Orsolini will be a great addition and more importantly, still within budget. Probably the most consistent player from Bologna for the last past 5 years. He can fill the void in our set pieces taker as well.

  7. They’re both average players, but Saelemaekers offers nothing other than running.

His defensive play his very basic, his attack is amateur.
The only good thing is his age, I’d cash in ASAP.

Messias has been in our best players the past 2-3 games.

    1. People say Berardi is average. Yet he scores 15-20 goals and provides +10 assists every season. If an average player can get Milan those numbers, I’d be really happy.

  8. It is not imposible if five position like the article mention. CB : ndicka ( free transfer, strong on aerial, can play as LB too),italian CB like scalvini or lovato are good on 3 man CB formation but cost 20-30m euro. LWB : sell ballo toure and sign young LWB with cheap price to compete with theo( parisi are young italian LWB but cost 10-15m euro) . DMF : find talented player that available loan with option to buy. Striker : nothing will come unless Rebic or Origi out. RWB : sell saladmaker more realistic if AC Milan want to sign orsolini for 10m euro . In my personal opinion total 5 position cost are : ndicka ( free transfer),orsolini 10m euro, parisi 15m euro, loan fee for DMF 5m euro . Total only 30m euro . Should affordable and enough. Striker can wait till we sell Rebic or origi , dont forget we still have ibra & lazetic too
