Mediaset: Milan to focus on Chelsea winger after completing Loftus-Cheek deal

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the transfer of Rube Loftus-Cheek, but the Rossoneri don’t intend to waste any time because of it. In fact, now they will focus on another Chelsea man.

Milan need to sign quite a few players this summer in order for the squad to be considered ‘complete’. There’s still a lot of work to be done for the management, therefore, even if the signing of Loftus-Cheek is a good start.

According to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, the Rossoneri will keep the line with Chelsea open as they also want to sign Christian Pulisic. The winger wants to leave the club and only has one year left on his contract, which is why Milan only want to pay €10m (perhaps plus bonuses).

It remains to be seen if Chelsea will accept such a low figure for the American international. The will of Pulisic could be decisive and could perhaps favour Milan in the negotiations, ready to offer him an important role in the team.

    1. This management would offer 20mill. If they can buy a reject for that much, how much more someone that can actually play. I just feel this management is doing Chelsea a favour of clearing deadwood and paying handsomely.

      1. Yeah, but 10M it is well worth it. I wrote Milan shouldn’t sign Pulisic on every single article about him. But for 10M, yes. I mean Bologna asked that money for 34 year old Arnautovic. You have to consider Pulisic might end up settling good at Milan and becoming a 40-50M player so Milan can make money on him if he gets by without injuries for long enough. He is still only 24.

  1. He is a LW, does this mean they are planing on selling Leao or Playing him as an unefective RW ? Also very injury prone player. Loftus Cheek is also injury prone. I don’t want to only look at the down side, but injury prone players under Pioli won’t end up good.

    1. His career stats don’t really say he is a LW, he played more matches as a RW and very close in number of matches on AM. And his numbers are similar on all positions.

      1. It says he is a LW on transfermarkt. He does play on the RW(AM too) as well, but like Salamakers. 11goals in 107 games as a RW. Better invest that 10mil and add 7-8 more to get Baldanzi, left footed AM/RW, young, Italian, not injured every second game, and Milan Fan.

        1. Milan hates italians these days. We act like inter used to and purposely avoid signing italians now. It’s awful and feels so wrong

That said, pulisic for 10 is a good deal and worth the injury risk imo.

          1. Milan doesn’t hate Italians, but they cost a lot of money and they don’t get the tax benefits that players from abroad get for moving to Italy.

          2. I completely agree! This team does not want to sign any Italians and it is disgusting! I purposely play my Fifa Manager Career so i can put together a nice team with a very decent amount of Italians lol. At least i get some satisfaction out of that lol.

But honestly, cashing in on Tonali did bring money but would anyone agree that this move put us back a bit?

          3. They don’t hate Italians. Truth is Italy is just not producing many great players right now, particularly attacking players, which is why they failed to qualify for the last 2 world cups.

        2. It was RW on transfermarkt last year.

From his profile at Chelsea’s website:
Agile, quick and two-footed, Christian Pulisic is naturally a right winger but is also comfortable playing on the left or behind a striker.

          1. Better at LW but we need a RW. His assist as RW, 7per season on average. Not much more than Salamakers 4per season. And that was in his top form which he may never hit again. Add a bit more to that 10mil and you can have player like Baldanzi.

    2. this is his stats for his entire career and he has actually played the most at right wing.

      Played as…
      Right Winger 107 11 25
      Left Winger 80 22 12
      Attacking Midfield 61 17 16
      Centre-Forward 11 3 3
      Right Midfield 10 0 2
      Second Striker 6 2 0
      Central Midfield 1 1 1

if he is available for ten mil then i wouldnt mind the transfer.

    3. He played as LW, at Chelsea but at Dortmund he played mostly RW and CF.
According to Fabrizio Milan will not sell anymore keys player this transfer. Leo,Maignan Theo and Tomori won’t be sold. I can hardly see them do it any time soon.

  2. I think salary demands are going to be more important than the fee here – if he wants to be paid more than Leao then it’s a no-go.

    1. He is willing to take a cut to rebuild his name and career. This has been widely documented. They should close this before anyone gets in the picture.

  3. 10M is great business and def have to do it for that price – BUT – does anyone really think Chelsea will just give him away for only 10M? Expiring deal or not he’s only 24 and still has potential. Hard to believe no other EPL club would pay 20-25M for him. He’s not great but he’s solid when healthy and for us would be good. But unless he tells Chelsea he only wants Milan and will refuse all other transfers and won’t resign with them – I cannot see this happening at such a bargin price. Another Maldini target
