Milan should follow suit as Real Madrid fire their Head of Medical

AC Milan have been dealing with many injuries since the start of the season and a solution must be found. Seeing as it’s not the first year with similar struggles, the Rossoneri should consider sacking their Head of Medical.

This season, Milan have suffered over 20 injuries and the many absences are affecting them on the pitch. In the game against Lecce yesterday, another two injuries were added to the list as Davide Calabria and Rafael Leao were subbed off.

As mentioned at the start, this is nothing new and has been a problem for Milan over the last few years. This time out, however, the issue has been a lot more apparent. Serious evaluations will have to be made during the international break.

Calciomercato.com reported earlier today that Pioli and his staff will use the break to properly analyse the issue. They will take a look at what has been done in the 30 days, singling out what has worked and what hasn’t worked for the players.

In case it continues after the break, however, Milan should perhaps consider parting ways with their Head of Medical Stefano Mazzoni. Real Madrid are an example in that sense, as they just sacked their ditto Niko Mihic after six years at the club.

According to Marca, the muscle injuries of Arda Guler (who was linked with Milan) were the straws that broke the camel’s back. The Turkish wonderkid hasn’t been the only one with muscular issues at the club in recent years, and thus the decision was taken.

Mazzoni has been at Milan since 2011 and was promoted to his current position in the summer of 2016.
