Not much that AC Milan do is being met by positivity at the moment, and that extends to the fourth kit used against Lazio on Sunday night.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have published a piece headlined: “Milan, the fourth shirt and a shower of criticism: ‘We look like Portugal’, ‘We deserve to lose’. The Curva Sud’s banner ‘Solo per la maglia (Only for the shirt)’ had a sense of irony, given it wasn’t even the traditional red and black stripes used vs. Lazio.
The fans have expressed their fury about the use of the fourth kit, a collaboration with PUMA and Off-White. Against the Biancocelesti they wore a two-thirds red shirt and green at the bottom, yellow-black collar and sleeve hem, half-green and half-red shorts, red socks with yellow diagonal stripes on the calves.
Similarities with other shirts? Many have mentioned Portugal but in reality it is difficult to make comparisons, also because it was designed specifically to be a unique product. The problem is that ‘unique’ doesn’t always mean good.
Admittedly, the team’s suffering has accentuated the criticism. Evidently in this case the choice of colours and their combinations were not appreciated, because it’s not the first time that Milan – like many other clubs – has taken unconventional paths in choosing a third or (in this case) fourth kit.
That said, there is no preclusion regardless. The third kit from last season for example – the lilac and purple one with a touch of aquamarine – had registered a decidedly good response in terms of appreciation. This time, no.
Searching the web you find comments like: ‘Only for these obscene shirts do they deserve to lose’; ‘If Milan plays with a shirt like that, it’s right that they lose’; ‘To go back to being a serious and respected team I would start by wearing a shirt worthy of the name and not certain monstrosities’ and ‘In 60 years, I have never seen a more hideous kit’.

Another comment stood out: “The disconnect between management and fans can also be seen in the choice of shirt. In such a delicate moment, can you further annoy those who come to the stadium? To say the least, disrespectful to the history of Milan, they seem like those outfits that are chosen for company tournaments.”
DJ Ringo, a fervent AC Milan fan, also had his say: “It is criminal to play with the DNA and history of Milan, which is red and black and not with the colours of (with all due respect) Portugal.”
Behind the commercial choice from the Rossoneri there are social dynamics. The club explained that both kits were made ‘with the colours of the Pan-African flag to celebrate black excellence and recall the concepts of unity and progress’. The issue is there was no excellence on the field.
We have lost our true identity. We have become a marketing club.
The Unicorn kit (i.e. pink, purple and blue) was genius. Corners the 3 to 7 year old girl market and they’re Milanisti for life.
I actually said before the match that if it takes a 0-6 loss to never see Milan in as hideous shirts then it’ll be worth it. Fng disgusting.
3 kits is fine, and it’s ok if the 3rd is a bit experimental every year, and some will like each one and some won’t (I like the grey and green one).
4 kits is ridiculous enough, but wearing your 4th kit at home for advertising purposes is an insult. In fact no, if we were top of the league it would be an insult, in the current climate it’s incomprehensibly poor management.
What is happening with this management’s shows to exemplifies when men do not know the limit to their greed! This management is so greedy that they would do anything to loose their identity! What a shame this hedge fund is pioneering a monstrous and shameful culture never witness in such my entire life.
If you can close your eyes and remember those iconic shirts from the berlusconi era, now are shirts are designed by people who don’t respect Milan, or truly don’t understand or never experienced those glorious years, but we have allowed ourselves to be ridiculed by both Puma and Off white with their hideous , woke urban designs that are not in line with the clubs DNA and history.
This degeneracy has to end, design jerseys that reflect the clubs colours and history, our history and prestige demands it, we have three basic colours, red , white and black, a variety of designs can be made if we want to use them.
Off white designs are simply outrageous, oversized shoes and suits , we need to go back to mainstream Italian designers , not stick with this degenerate fashion house that has no class or taste.
Clown shirt suits this team well.
Exactly what I was thinking too. Ridiculous shirt for ridiculous team.
Abomination fitting of our current ownershio and form on the pitch
Yes.
“We will be a team of devils. Our colours will be red like fire and black to invoke fear in our opponents!” These were the words that Herbert Kilpin used as he founded AC Milan on 16 December 1899.

This is literally written in the club page lmao.
Yeah, no respect to history at all. The red and black jersey is heavy. Many wishes to don it, not many are fortunate enough to do so.
The shirt is just a side marker of all the other idiocy going on at the club…
Lazio proper schooled us though, they maid us look like a serie B team…
Yea I figured my comment would have been deleted..can’t even say what the purpose of the kit was even if it was on Milan’s socials and relayed by commentators during the prior game smh 🤦♂️
LoL
It’s all about the money.
Silly clown costum. Pink if you like more sellable shirt. Maybe this shirt brings no luck. The more important : Milan is Red and Black.
Redbird think Milan is soap opera with every episode to sell.
Fu**in capitalist
The shirt is disrespectful of Milan and players who have come and gone before.
The person who approved it should be stood down.
This and many more decisions this season have brought the club to its knees.
This management has set us back 10 years!
Can we just go with Red and Black and (when needed) White?
1st jersey: Red & Black stripes / Rossoneri
2nd jersey: White with red and black trim
3rd jersey: Black with red or white
Totally fine to experiment each year with the 3rd jersey. But keep the first 2 the same and use them most of the time. At home it should be Rossoneri stripes every time.
Are they making Milan out of sport and becoming the next “H&M” ?? lol 😀
I already had a feeling when they made the first funny kit.
This Is A Cancel-culture The Owner Put Onto Italy.
as days go by, it’s more like propaganda..
It says, “The club explained that both kits were made ‘with the colours of the Pan-African flag to celebrate black excellence and recall the concepts of unity and progress’. The issue is there was no excellence on the field.”
