CF: Milan to free up over €32m thanks to six departures – the figures

June 30 is the date that marks the end of the season and the beginning of the next one. For AC Milan, like all clubs, this has financial implications.

Like every year, clubs do the maths to understand how and how many resources to invest in the transfer window, a consequence of a cost of the squad that can be lightened thanks to the farewells of those players who end their loan period or whose contract is expiring.

Where Milan stand

As for Milan, six players have departed. Joao Felix, Tammy Abraham, Luka Jovic and Riccardo Sottil have left from the forward group, in addition to the defenders Alessandro Florenzi and Kyle Walker.

Calcio e Finanza report that there has been some important space freed up, economically. Thanks to these departures, Milan will free up a total of around €32m in the balance sheet. The most expensive player was Felix, who cost almost €9m for half a season.

The second-most expensive was Abraham (around €7.4m), while third place is occupied by Florenzi, never available during the 2024-25 season and with a very heavy salary because of not being able to use the Growth Decree.

Walker – who arrived from Manchester City to try to bring leadership – was not signed permanently either. Finally, together with him, the striker Jovic (whose contract expired) and the winger Sottil, who returns to Fiorentina.

It should be remembered that these lower costs could be offset by any higher costs related to the returns of some players from loan experiences. However, on the return front, Milan will have the entire summer transfer window to work on any new transfers or new loans.

  1. The decision to spend 9M on Felix for 6 months is beyond me. This is exactly why I have limited faith. The people who made/approved this decision are still here.

    1. It’s what Conceicao wanted, otherwise he would’ve thrown his toys out of the cot as we saw him do over and over.

      1. I don’t remember reading about him wanting Felix, but I’ll take your word for it. Anyways, the minute we start listening to what coaches want we get Emerson Royal and Felix…That says a lot as well. Anyways, I hope Allegri has…a better vision.

        1. It’s why we continued to see Felix play throughout despite it being obvious, half way through the loan, that he was useless.

    2. Completely agree. Club leadership showed remarkably poor judgment on that one. Chelsea is laughing all the way to the bank.

    1. He is and always was a mediocre overhyped player. The teams he played for were mostly top tier, and failed to establish himself every time. Having some talent and skills is not enough.

      1. Nothing but the truth. Yes he did good at Benfica, Portugal league, but then started well and always ended very poor at top clubs in better leagues: Atlético and Barça (La Liga), Chelsea (Premier), Milan (Serie A). Joao F. should return to basics (to Benfica) to try to put his career back on track

    2. Wow you must be a terrible scout.

Sure he has some tricks and flicks but his end product is zero.
He did well as a teenager in POrtugal, that is many years ago. He has been an expensive failure everywhere else he played.
No physicality, no stamina, poor decision making, poor final ball, no personality, major diver. These are the things that differentiate a skillful amateur from a top professional.
That is what a good scout should easily identify
