AC Milan CEO Furlani rules out Leao joining Barcelona: “Zero chance”

AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has put an end to the speculation that Rafael Leao could move to Barcelona late in the window by categorically ruling it out.

The Leo-Barcelona chatter first began a couple of days ago, with reports in Spain suggesting that the Catalan club had turned to him after failing to land Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao and Luis Diaz of Liverpool.

Not only that, but the front pages of both Sport and Mundo Deportivo in Spain yesterday mentioned the Portuguese as being a concrete target for the Catalan club, even if they acknowledged it would be a difficult pursuit due to the costs involved and how late in the window we are.

Sky stated earlier today that Milan’s stance on the matter is ‘unequivocal’ and Leao – especially with nine days to go until the end of the transfer window – is not for sale at any price.

El Chiringuito managed to speak to Furlani while he arrived at Milanello today and their journalist asked him about the Barcelona rumours, with the full exchange below.

Is it possible for Rafa Leao to play for Barcelona this season?

“No.”

It’s not possible?

“Zero chance.”

Will Rafa Leao stay at Milan this season?

“Definitely, 100%.”

If Rafa Leao asked to leave, would there be any chance?

“He hasn’t asked. Satisfied? Clear?”
