Milan Futuro 0-1 Pianese: Nava penalty save not enough amid two red cards

Life continues to be difficult for Daniele Bonera and Milan Futuro in Serie C. After playing more or less the entire game against Pianese with ten men, they registered their fourth defeat of the season and are now second to last.

After the 2-1 win against SPAL, and then the 1-1 draw against Lucchese, the hope was that Milan Futuro would be able to continue their unbeaten run today. However, Pianese prevailed 1-0 after the Rossoneri got a red card in the 4th minute.

Piaenese were on six points prior to the game, as many as Bonera’s side, and this was thus a game to win. The red card of Andrei Coubis, due to stopping a clear-cut goalscoring opportunity, set the tone for the rest of the affair as Milan Futuro struggled to hang on to their point.

In the 66th minute, the away side broke the deadlock after a cross into the box. From there, it was very difficult for the Rossoneri and Pianese would have doubled the lead if it weren’t for some great saves by Lapo Nava.

Indeed, in the 88th minute, Gabriele Minotti caused a foul in the box and Pianese were awarded a penalty. After getting a yellow card, Minotti complained and got himself a second one, forcing Milan to finish the game with nine men.

Nava, much to his credit, didn’t give up and managed to save the penalty and thus continued his impressive form between the sticks. However, Milan failed to find a way back into the game and it finished 0-1.

It’s worth noting that Francesco Camarda, Kevin Zeroli and Alex Jimenez were missing as they have been called up for the first team.
