Milan Futuro 1-3 Legnago Salus: Ballo-Toure throws away three points with red card

Milan Futuro were looking to distance themselves from the last-placed team, Legnago Salu, earlier today but failed in the end. They had the lead up until the 82nd minute, but a Fode Ballo-Toure red card threw everything away.

Milan Futuro opened the scoring towards the end of the first half, more specifically in the 41st minute, through Davide Bartesaghi. A short corner was played to Mattia Sandri who then picked out the youngster in the box with a low cross. It was a very nice finish as well.

The goal came at just the right time as the away side looked more dangerous for most of the first half, with momentum shifting at the end. Ahead of the second half, Francesco Camarda was subbed off for Hugo Cuenca, which suggests that the striker will indeed be called up by the first team on Tuesday.

Bonera’s men had a few chances in the second half but everything was overshadowed by Fode Ballo-Toure, who made his return after months out in the cold. In the 74th minute, he received his second yellow card of the game and was sent off, making life very difficult for the team.

Sure enough, eight minutes later, Legnago found the equaliser after a free-kick. Unfortunately, it got even worse as the away side scored another in the 85th minute thanks to a great individual effort. Milan, or rather Ballo-Toure, threw everything away against the rock-bottom team.

Frustration was evident among the Futuro players and in the dying minutes, Alex Jimenez was sent off as well for two quick yellow cards. This allowed Legnago to score a third and definitely kill the game. The question is whether Milan should think about sacking Bonera now or not.

  1. Milan invested some 40M Euro to get Futuro going including renovating a stadium, signing new players, and so on. But then, can’t we hire a proper coach? Bonera is not a coach.

This said, it’s hard for such a young team (U19 rather than on paper U23) to compete against grown men.

  2. If they’re serious about Futuro and the players’ development they should hire a better coach.
With that said, for youth teams (U19 and U23) individual players improvment is more important that the team result. What we want is useful players for the senior teams, so if sometimes an experiment is deemed important to develop players but would sacrifice a game or 2, why not.

  3. Some people though this team will get the promotion come end of the season LMAO

The team is better than this though. They should be able to finish around mid-table I suppose. I don’t know what kind of a coach Bonera is but he had a very low footballing IQ as a player.

  4. Futuro needs a real coach to develop players… or our management idiots think they develop themselves???? But then again, even first team doesnt have one… so i guess its ok for ibra to get his ass kicked in his new fighting ‘project’

  5. Don’t sh your pants guys. We threw away two games in a row with stupid individual mistakes. Without that we were midtable which should be fine for a first season of a completely new team. The team is absolutely competitive and just need time to get more routine with the new and different challenges. I even prefer this rather than winning everything and then being hated by the other teams.

    1. I prefer winning, breaking the league and I DO NOT CARE FOR BEEN HATED BY THE OTHER TEAMS. MILAN SHOULD AND MUST ALWAYS DOMINATE.

If it comes at the cost of the league or other teams, then tough tutties. I don’t care if Milan turn the league or football in general into a farmers league. As long as Ac Milan is on top. I can always sleep easy.

      1. Yes I also want Milan to win every game, but this is Futuro. And in the end I think it’s still important to have a good connection with the league and the other teams, cause we will still need them to develop our players (at a certain point players might be too good for Serie C but not ready for Serie A and then some of former Serie C teams might be in Serie B. Or we might want to buy a good player from another team, and I guess good relation could help in such situations. But yeah, sounds pretty cool to say, my team must win always and nothing else matters

  6. One other thing. Aren’t we supposed to have maximum 3 overage players in the squad? Today we had Sandri, Fall, Longo and Ballo-Toure. Does anyone know how this is possible?

    1. Though our team were made to develop our u-23 players, the league itself (Serie C) is a professional league, there’s no limit for overage players. Any team in Serie C could fields all over-23 players on their starting lineup.
