Milan Futuro 1-3 Sant’Angelo: Coppa Italia Serie D campaign ended at first hurdle

Milan Futuro are out of the Coppa Italia Serie D at the first hurdle as they were beaten by Sant’Angelo on Sunday.

In the first competitive game of 2026-27, Sergio Navarro’s side unfortunately exited the cup in the Round of 64 phase. At the Stadio Felice Chinetti in Solbiate Arno, the Futuro went behind early on as Bernardini scored for the away side.

Castiello responded with an equaliser in the 17th minute: Perera picked out his team-mate, who produced a striker’s finish, turning home with his left foot to make it 1-1. Milan created plenty after the restart with Ossola, Cappelletti and the substitute Balentien coming close.

However, Sant’Angelo took the tie late on thanks to a double blow inside the final six minutes. Toldo fired in a free-kick from just outside the box to make it 1-2, and then Maltoni finished a counter-attacking move right at the end to seal a 3-1 victory for the away side.

This week, the Futuro will travel to England to face Everton at Goodison Park in their opening game of the Premier League International Cup U21. Then, on Sunday 6 September, they will begin their league campaign in Group B of Serie D: Caldiero Terme will visit the Chinetti.
