Milan Futuro celebrate

Milan Futuro through to the second round of Coppa Italia Serie C – next opponent

Milan Futuro clinched an important, as well as historic, win in their game against Lecco last night. It was the team’s first-ever official clash and as such, it was really nice to see the Rossoneri find the back of the net three times.

As the referee blew his whistle for full-time, the scores stood at 0-3 after goals from Mattia Liberali and Alex Jimenez (brace). Daniele Bonera was happy with his team’s display but also admitted that improvements are needed, though also expected given the young age.

Milan Futuro got a bit lucky not to concede, bailed out by Lapo Nava on several occasions including a penalty save, but the display was still very promising. Having advanced to the second round, they will face Novara next weekend.

The season opener of the Serie C, meanwhile, is scheduled for August 25th and Milan Futuro will be up against Virtus Entella then. Three away games to start the season, in other words, but we will soon see them on their home turf as well.

The Primavera side, on the other hand, will start their season next weekend against Udinese away from home. Given that many have taken the step up to the Futuro side, it will be a new-looking team for the U19s.

  1. Good win, seems like we are blessed with many talented goalkeeper.

Lapo Nava showed why he was the third choice first team last season.

  2. Have always maintained that the RB solution has always been in the team.
Play Teracciano and Jimenez on their natural right and get a natural left to back up and compete with Theo.

And by the way, Bartesaghi played LCB as well and Zeroli much deeper.
