AC Milan will take on Fiorentina away from home tomorrow and three Milan Futuro players have been called up for the game. This was confirmed by Paulo Fonseca this afternoon as the first team is struggling with a few injuries.
It was confirmed earlier today that Luka Jovic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek also will miss out on the game, after Davide Calabria was ruled out yesterday. The captain has been struggling with a lot of injuries lately, certainly making life difficult for his manager.
During today’s press conference at Milanello, Fonseca was asked about the injuries and whether he had called up any players from the Futuro side. He nodded and confirmed that the likes of Francesco Camarda, Kevin Zeroli and Alex Jimenez have been called up for the game.
In the meantime, Milan Futuro are up against Pianese this afternoon (15:00 kick-off) and will thus be without three stars. Not ideal for Daniele Bonera, but this is what he signed up for when he took the job. After all, the goal is to develop the players while also using them in the first team when needed.
Having said that, the youngsters might not get any minutes off the bench tomorrow as Fonseca has been quite restrictive with the subs.
Bugs me that Bartesaghi wont be available.
Given we have the game under control, I expect to see Zeroli and Camarda. We are thin in the midfield and at the S, SS positions and it could be a way to create some depth.
I’d like to see Jimenez for Emerson at some point. Calabria is clearly cooked.
It doesn’t look like Jimenez is that good at defending either.
Man, I miss Kalulu!
I think so too.
So many say he cannot defend, but it seems to early in his career to say that about him.
Let’s develop him as a defender if he is willing and able.
Clearly….nice support for your captain.
To all the people who keep dreaming of these youngsters becoming an asset for the first team in the short run, I remind them that these same youngsters are doing terribly in Serie C (Milan Futuro is placed 19th in their 20-team group and looking like they’ll get relegated to Serie D); what exactly make you all think they’d be doing well in Serie A?
They are not ready for Serie A. They need a lot longer development in Serie C before they become Serie A material.
I wouldn’t expect a team consisting entirely of kids to be parachuted into Serie C and have any chance at all.
It was a terrible idea to begin with and tells us nothing about their abilities.
However given they have made it this far with AC Milan we can assume that they’re some of the greatest talents of their generation, and if the club mess this one up again then we should direct our anger at the club rather than writing off another generation.
