AC Milan have made the first contact with the agents of Olivier Giroud to try and agree on a new contract, a report claims.
As has been reported by Antonio Vitiello of Milan News on Twitter, Milan are convinced enough of the quality that Giroud brings to the team that they already want to extend his contract.
The 35-year-old striker still has a year left to run on his current deal but Milan must feel that they can get use out of the Frenchman beyond the end of next season.
It could be that they want to armour him with a new deal so that should they want to sell him next summer, they could receive a fee. Any fee would be minimal though given his age.
He joined the Rossoneri in July 2021 from Chelsea for just over €1 million. His market value currently stands at £3.15 million according to the website Transfermarkt.

Why would they do that ? as the player has a contract lasting untill next year, already with an option for a further year lasting untill 2024.
Pretty sure it isn’t high on the to do lists of the management.
Giroud is a very important asset to AC Milan ,in terms of his ability to bring others into a game ..
He also has great belief and determination to succeed
He also I believe has still got a few seasons left in him to perform at the highest level..indeed he was a absolute bargain as far as fees concerned ..He will score goals again this season, make no mistake about that .
still wouldnt make sense to renew him at this point as he his contract could potentially last untill 2024 and by then he will be a few month short of the age of 37 so it wouldnt really make sense regardless of his contributions as lots can happen in the meantime at his age.
