Sky: Pioli right to trust Milan’s French connection – the incredible stat that proves it

By Oliver Fisher -

The French influence at AC Milan continues to grow and there is a remarkable statistic that shows Stefano Pioli should be inclined to trust it more often.

Sky (via MilanNews) reports how this is very much a French-flavoured Milan because there are several French-speaking or French-influenced players who have worn the Rossoneri shirt, in large part due to the influence of the management and scouting area.

Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Pierre Kalulu and Olivier Giroud are all French, while Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie, Alexis Saelemaekers, Rafael Leao and Fode Ballo-Toure all have French connections in some way.

The report adds that when Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Giroud all took the field at the same time to start a game, Milan did not lose once. Out of the six games in which all three of them were in the XI in fact, six wins resulted. In that stretch there were 16 goals scored and only 6 goals conceded.
