CM: Milan given massive boost as Leao recovers for Roma game – the latest

AC Milan have been given some big news this afternoon, with it being reported that Rafael Leao can play this weekend.

There have been considerable doubts about Leao’s ability to be involved this weekend, considering he trained alone yesterday and was still experiencing some discomfort. It was even suggested that he may not be able to feature at all at San Siro.

However, his situation now appears to have changed, thanks to a recent report.

Leao recovers for Roma

As Calciomercato.com write, Massimiliano Allegri was given good news at Milanello this morning. Leao returned to group training and can be considered ‘fully recovered’ and ready for this weekend’s game against Roma.

Whilst he may not be fully match fit, as the report writes, he is a candidate for a starting spot on Sunday, which could certainly help elsewhere, given Luka Modric has not been rested in some time now.

For Allegri, it is now a choice of three, rather than only two. So, he will have a few days to assess Leao’s condition, as well as the solution which could help break down the best defence in Serie A. Certainly a big boost, even if Leao is only to help from the bench.

  1. So now we have RLC, Nkunku and Leao available for the attack, but still no subs for midfield. Modric is working overtime. Jashari is not going to be ready for match minutes, I think. Maybe 10-15 at most, which I guess is better than nothing.

  2. Give Nkunku the start. I doubt, if the fatigue is legit, that Leao is even close to 100% already. Give him 20 minutes in the 2nd half to go all out once the Roma players are tired. Let’s see what Nkunku can do with more time to get into the match. Of course that’s assuming he’s match fit enough to give 60 or so minutes. Giving Leao the start I think would be a mistake.
