MN: Milan ‘held hostage’ by RedBird as questions arise about the longevity of the project

This afternoon, a report has given a rather scathing look at AC Milan under the RedBird management, questioning how much longer it can continue.

It is no secret that RedBird have not been winning popularity contests around Milan in recent years. In fact, protests against the ownership quietened through the good times this season. However, recent form has brought them back to life.

Questions are once again being asked regularly about their future at the helm of the club and the view from some is far from positive.

A scathing look at RedBird

After the weekend’s loss, questions have again emerged, thanks to the Scudetto now being absolutely out of reach and the Champions League even becoming somewhat of a worry. As a result, MilanNews journalist Manuel Del Vecchio has wrote a rather scathing piece about the situation.

In the piece, it is claimed that the club are ‘being held hostage’ by the ownership until a time where they can ‘cash in’. Fans are disillusioned and there is little Milanese spirit about the team, something that wouldn’t be the case if Paolo Maldini were still involved, it is implied.

A modern ‘self-sufficient’ structure has been implemented and profits are prioritised over results. A credit to the ownership and no one else. The aims for a Champions League spot are to stay afloat financially, rather than competitively.

Perhaps it is more emotionally driven after the recent results. However, these claims are not new and they are certainly not only coming from the press.

  1. Y’all complain and complain and do absolutely NOTHING about it.

At this point everything reported is just a bunch of hot air.

Anyone got 1.5 Billion in change to buy the club and another maybe 0.6-7 Billion to operate it every year?

    1. Are you trying to win the most stupid comment prize? You won!

It is obvious Gerry wants to build the stadium and then sell the club to the highest bidder. That was the plan since day 1. Anyone who believed the PR he usually says publicly is a genius. Gerry didn’t say a single word out of his heart, it is all prewritten.

      1. Funny, you don’t seem to understand what was written.
I’m asking if there is anyone out there with the money to buy Milan from Redbird.

Nobody right now seems to have the means or the financial ability to save this club.

If you want Redbird out, this question needs to be revisited regardless of the stadium or not.

Who has the money and WILLINGNESS to buy and operate this club? Fans and articles like this talk a lot of hot air. We need ACTION.

    2. On paper the club is owned by RedBird/Cardinale but in the end all owners are only custodians for a duration of time. Regardless if we the fans or anyone else cant afford to buy the club doesn’t mean that we should just accept things as they are because if someone buys a club of AC Milan’s stature they better perform or expect hells wrath coming their way. Same would be the case for any sizeable top club around the world.

      1. If you don’t have 1.5 billion you aren’t allowed to comment. Never mind that Gerry doesn’t have 1.5 billion. He might if he sold the share in all the assets he has, but hardly. 😀

          1. 🤣🤣 You aren’t a real fan if you don’t get down on your knees and ask for forgiveness once you speak badly of Redbird.

          2. It’s 1899 😉😉. It was nice chatting with you a bit, you are the most friendly guy here by far. Hope you have a good evening!

  2. I get that but I was first born in the late 1970ies 🙂 thanks and may you have a good evening as well.

  3. What a nonsense article. Profits over results?!?! The owners don’t take money out of the club, the profits have no relevance to anything other than the transfer budget. Also nice of him to mention the stadium. What a hack!

    1. What are you talking about? Owners 100% take money out of the club, but Milan is not in a position yet to take money out. Especially with the proposed stadium build. Glazers took 1.5 billions in profit payments since they took over Manchester United.
Even if not taking profit directly, investing in everything else to get the club value up instead of the team is also a viable option. If the plan is to sell.
