Romano: Milan hijack attempt in full swing as Cardinale will speak with Liberali

AC Milan are pushing hard to try and convince Mattia Liberali to come back, with Gerry Cardinale now taking the floor.

June has only just ended, but Milan are busy when it comes to the transfer window. Liberali is being sought after by several Serie A teams after a great second half of the season in Serie B with Catanzaro. He seemed all set to join Cesc Fabregas at Como, and yet the Rossoneri’s advances are concrete.

Cardinale takes charge

In the last few hours, Milan upped the ante first through coach Ruben Amorim and then through the club’s higher-ups. For now, the Como move is on hold because Liberali’s agents will meet with the Rossoneri today, as Fabrizio Romano reported in his video published last night.

“These will be the moment of truth for Liberali. Como is ready to pay the release clause and has a salary agreement: Liberali has agreed to the salary and contract term, but the approval of his agents is still pending, along with his agent – the same as Marco Palestra – Lucci,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Como are suspicious because they were ready to close the deal in these hours; they even contacted Catanzaro to communicate this agreement and to announce their willingness to pay the release clause.

“But today, Milan will have a video call: Gerry Cardinale and the higher-ups will meet with Liberali to see if he can be brought back to the Rossoneri. Como is also waiting. The Liberali deal is currently dependent on his agent.”

As a reminder, Liberali has a €6m release clause in his contract at Catanzaro. Milan, when they sold him there, secured a 50% resale clause, which means that they can in effect bring him ‘home’ for €3m with the approval of all involved.

  1. Maignan (Torriani, Terracciano)-

    TIAGO GABRIEL (De Winter),
    VAN DIJK (Gabbia),
    Pavlovic (Odogu)-

    TIAGO SANTOS (Athekame),
    HJULMAND (Modric, Bondo),
    Rabiot (Ardon, Comotto),
    RUGGERI (Bartesaghi)-

    ALAJBEGOVIC (DIAZ),
    Pulisic (Nkunku, CHIESA)-

    RAMOS (GABRIEL JESUS, Camarda);

  2. SELL: Tomori, Saelemaekers, Filippo Terracciano, Estupinan, Fofana, Musah, Bennacer, Ricci,
    Loftus-Cheek, Chukwueze, Leao and Gimenez;

    LOAN: Zeroli, Cissè, Kostic;

    1. Agree 90%, bunch of ungrateful parasites like Gimenez, Chick, Tomori and Estupinian.
      I would keep only Fofana, the season will be long, muscles are needed in the Midfield. And Saelemakers . The guy is awful defensively, but in front he will be useful, taking in consideration crystal legs of Pulisic who every year is injured 2-3 months.
      Leao may stay under Amorim if the offers are < 50 mln.
      In : all young core – Comotto, Liberali, Balentien, Kostic and Camarda. Musah will be useful too.

      1. I would also keep Fofana if Modric doesn’t renew even if they’re not the same profile of midfielders. Why do you consider Alexis awful defensively? He’s not that bad at all. Balentien is (primarily) a winger, there won’t be room for him in 3-4-2-1. The same thing with Leao, I really don’t see how (and why)
        he could stay with us, his time at Milan is up and he should leave for 55-60 million euros or more.

      2. Ungrateful parasites? Can you elaborate please? As far as I understand, they were bought here by our management so why are they parasites? Are they refusing to leave? They’re doing the work for which they were hired. They might not be what we expected but they’re no parasites. Please show a bit of respect.

        1. Gimenez, Chick, Estupinian and Tomori. Each 4 mln annual salary 🤡
          Worse than damn Origi.
          The mexican not only scored 0 goals, but stayed injured half of the season, enjoying burritos at home. He even injured poor Jashari, leaving grandfather Modric without a sub.
          Loftus and Tomori showed their disrespect getting red cards after 20 minutes and strolling on the pitch.
          And Еstupinian – the boy should be banned from playing football. Against Lazio and Parma he demonstrated to be one of the worst players to wear Milan’s colours.
          The only thing these parasites care is to stay as long as possible here

          1. Non of those guys you listed were worse than Origi. Theres probably more than 200 starts between the 4 Origi started like 5 games and took home over 25m

  3. we simply must do everything we can to bring him back. It was a blunder to let him go like that in the first place.

    Pulisic , Nkunku , Zaniolo/Trincao + Liberali

    These 4 for the 2 attacking positions behind the striker in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 is pretty good..

    Liberali can literally start 20+ games for us considering the others threes injury records plus coppa and europa league games..

  4. Milan doesn’t develop their youth talent well unless we’re in the banter era. That’t the only time the likes of DeSciglio, Abate, Calabria got to play and develop (not that they were anything special…)

    Sadly, it is better for Comotto, Liberali and Camarda to go play elsewhere to live up to their potential in an environment that allows them to play, make mistakes and learn without the pressure to win or be perfect.
