MN: Milan hoping to close €7m signing quickly after identifying ideal midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have two weeks to sign a new midfielder, and they now exactly the mould of player that they want.

MilanNews report that the absence of a physically strong player capable of recovering as many balls as possible was evident against Udinese, while depth is also crucial given that the objectives for the season are to retain the Scudetto, go further in the Champions League and possibly win the Coppa Italia too.

Maldini and Massara know that a new player is needed who is capable of guaranteeing what Franck Kessie was capable of, even if it will be difficult to replace a player of his calibre. The ideal profile in terms of athleticism, physicality and guarantees in terms of fitness seems to be Raphael Onyedika of FC Midtjylland.

The Nigerian is viewed as ideal because the Danish club want just €7m to sell him – a figure certainly within the budget – and the hope is to close the deal in a short time, given the conditions of the operation.

  1. I’ve only seen a Youtube highlights video of him but he looks quite skilful. He might turn out to be a good signing especially for 7 million.

  2. I have seen a couple of times lately, against Benfica and Larnaca, and I must say that I am a bit sceptical. Not very physical, not very quick, lacks composure…

    1. But still managed to win the Scudetto last season? Do you have any clues regards to economy/finances? This is not a computer game.

On topic, FC Midtjylland has been producing and finding talents, especially African talents the latest 10-15years. They know a talent when they see them.

      1. Yes, they won the Scudetto with maybe the 3rd or 4th best squad in Serie A because Inter had just lost Conte and Lukaku and Juve was rebuilding. Both those teams have greatly improved their squads while Milan has gotten weaker. Losing their best midfielder and as of now still not replaced him. also losing depth at CB in Romagnoli. If you are such an expert on finances explain what Milan is doing with the money the won for winning Scudetto, or for making Champions League, or the big reduction Ibra just took in salary, or Kessie’s salary, or the money they were supposedly going to spend to get Sanchez and Botman? Sure they’ll get some cheap young player from some B League who may turn into a really good player in a couple years. Doesn’t help them win now. And then in a year or 2 when the player becomes really good, he will leave Milan for a team that will pay him what he’s worth. Like Kessie.
