AC Milan are hoping that the clash against Verona will be another occasion for the attack to revive itself, given their massive struggles in front of goal lately.
The defeat to Udinese truly confirmed that Milan have a massive problem in attack. Of course, that was clear before, but even a switch to a 4-3-3 formation didn’t help get the likes of Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic going.
Massimiliano Allegri is thus expected to revert to the 3-5-2 formation, starting the star duo up front together, and he’s desperate to get them on the scoresheet this weekend. Luckily, the game provided that effect in the reverse fixture.
The perfect game to bounce back?
Indeed, the reverse fixture was the final game of 2025 and it’s one that Milan won by three goals to nil, following a brace by Christopher Nkunku (yes!) and a goal by Pulisic. Although the game wasn’t the start of a positive run, it did at least act as a confidence boost.
A confidence boost is exactly what Milan need on Sunday afternoon, as the top-four race is getting tighter and the players are questioning themselves even more. Adrien Rabiot said as much after the defeat at the weekend, confirming that morale is at an all-time low. ,
What better way to boost the confidencde than by winning against Verona and having Leao or Pulisic (or both) get on the scoresheet? Let’s hope it happens.
