Gerry Cardinale’s idea is to support Ruben Amorim and the ‘new’ management with an experienced figure to lead the sporting side.
According to Tuttosport, the casting process for the technical director continues under wraps. Cardinale chose to promote more behind-the-scenes figures to leading roles following the managerial clear-out after failure to qualify for the Champions League.

However, in order to build a Milan that can aim for the biggest trophies, there is a big piece missing. This figure will obviously not be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is ‘confined’ to the role of senior advisor at RedBird Capital.
In recent weeks, Cardinale has followed Amorim’s progress step by step. Despite his continued commitment to the club, it’s clear that a director is needed who can support him in decision-making, who knows on-field dynamics and can help build a squad that matches his ideas.

Casting process begins
At the moment – despite denials from Casa Milan – the most likely name to fill that position remains Markus Krösche of Eintracht Frankfurt. According to German sources, he will leave the club in the coming days and remains a strong candidate after the summer links.
Krösche’s resume boasts a string of huge capital gains, in addition to results like reaching the Champions League semi-final with RB Leipzig and winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt. He has a contract until 2028 there, but reportedly there is a break clause.
José Boto is an option, someone who heads the technical department at Flamengo (with whom he won the Copa Libertadores) and knows Amorim well, having played alongside him at Benfica.
Another strong candidate is Devin Özek, still a free agent after leaving Fenerbahçe. He is the man who helped to build the Bayer Leverkusen team under Xabi Alonso that won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.
In theory, Piero Ausilio is also on the market , and in many ways he would be the ideal candidate, but his 28 years at Inter make this option impracticable.

If Cardinale choose krosche, milan will be like window shopping for anothers big club. Feeder club. Different with pier ausilio, he builds strong team for champion 🏆
ALL Italian clubs will sell on star players. That’s been the reality for 25 years.
Intermilan didn’t sell their stars , even Napoli aside from very few like Kvara
A serious club would have sorted this out in June.
There’s nothing impressive about Krosche and if we take a closer look at Eintracht Frankfurt we will see that before him and after his arrival the club made important capital gains from buying and selling players.
That means the 2 best options are Ausillio and Ozek since they have experience building strong winning teams and that’s exactly what Milan needs.
