The pursuit of a playmaker
Calciomercato.com report that Milan’s scouting department has given full approval to Can Uzun of Eintracht Frankfurt. The problem lies in his valuation: the German club, known for being a very expensive shop, has set his exit price at €60m.
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic would sign Kerim Alajbegovic immediately, but there’s a section within the management that would prefer someone with different characteristics. Alajbegovic has been on the Rossoneri’s radar for months, but Giuntoli has accelerated the process to bring him to Atalanta.
Another name being considered is Genk’s Konstantinos Karetsas. The asking price is €35-40m for the 18-year-old Greek. His numbers are impressive (he provided 10 assists in the Belgian Pro League) but Borussia Dortmund have agreed personal terms and are accelerating.
So, where could Milan turn? Due to problems with Udinese regarding his contract and his financial situation, Zaniolo is on the market again. In the last few hours, his agents offered him to Milan: in the coming days, we’ll see whether this option will materialise or not.
Then, there is Pedro Goncalves, better known as ‘Pote’. He is a player Amorin knows well from his time at Sporting. He has a €60m release clause, but just €25-30m could be enough to bring him to Milanello, despite Trincao’s seemingly imminent Saudi move.
Sell Chukwueze and Pulisic (and Leao, of course), buy Alajbegovic (or Karetsas), Zaniolo and Uzun…

This ain’t FM mate. Sell some, buy some, no drastic change. Pulisic is our best player now, why would we sell, even leao better he stays, no one better than him for 60 mill euro. Karestas, alajbegovic is very raw, they are not messi, they may eventually fail like other youngster, remember lazetic, roback?where are they now?. Buy some experience 28,29 yo thats it, this is how football works.
Pulisic is injury prone, hence my concern. Leao is not going to remain, he doesn’t fit the profile for 3-4-2-1. I’ve got against signing older and much experienced players, on the contrary.

Zaniolo would be a backup for Alajbegovic.

@acquilah i stopped reading the guys comments a long time ago. You just read Alajbegovic is already in advanced talks with Giuntoli of Atalanta yet he says Milan should go for him. And he also watched Amorim’s presentation where he stated Pulisic will be one of the chief pounts of his project yet he (@revolt) says sell him.

B. Leverkusen is (still) waiting on us to get in the race for Alajbegovic, it wouldn’t be the first time for some player to change the destination in the last minutes. I haven’t watched the presentation, actually, but, yes, I trust you that he did indeed say he is counting on Pulisic. On the other hand, that can change as well, Pulisic is injury prone to such a degree that that kind of makes his physical shape more than just a regular concern for the club’s doctors. If you’re not worried and if that doesn’t make you think twice, I am.
Bro he is overrated, average at best, buy some proven player like harry kane, yamal, dembele, osimhen, vlahovic level. Remember roback, lazetic, adiyiah, halilovic, where are they now? We are doing good job by buying ramos, he is proven talent. No more unproven talent, waste of money.
Unfortunately, Kang-in Lee is nearing (his transfer to) Atletico Madrid and they have already signed both Grimaldo and Hjulmand, much to our regret.
Zaniolo is still “only” 27 years old. If we can keep him fit I think he can be a smart buy. Alot of value for the money he cost. Helps with the UEFA squad list too and doesnt take up one of the 17 foreign player spots.
I don’t know, I really want to give Zaniolo a chance. Last season he’s decent. Only missed 4 games all season. And he knows the league well. And yes, we do need Italian player(s).

Sure, the ideal and logical starter would be Nkunku and Pulisic. As things stand.
As things stand but we need a left-footed AMRC and a better attacker than Nkunku to play behind Ramos. Nkunku & Chukwueze could be very decent backups.
Yeah, he had a declining record between 22/23 and 24/25 playing less and less minutes per season. But last season he had 2 450 minutes and didnt get injured. Thats a good sign. Its a bit of a gamble, but not for alot of cash and it could pay off big.
I would of course like Karetsas, Uzun or Alajbegović more, but it seems Milan are waiting a little to let Amorim evaluate Cisse, Chukwueze and Comotto among others, so Im quite sure all three will be picked up elsewhere before we act.
Going into the season with Pulisic/Nkunku and Zaniolo/Chukwueze (and maybe Cisse as a backup 5th) for the offensive midfield positions isnt terrible. Getting someone who is used to that position over Chukwueze would be ideal. But cant replace the whole team in one summer. Might have to wait for the next one for the last pieces of the puzzle.
Yup, his price should be reasonable. He always has this immense talent, and it’s good to see he finally got his confidence back. And also, we need left footed AMC
Zaniolo, if you give this player to someone like De Zerbi, he will make him top. With Amorim I am not quite sure, there are two histories.
If the manager think he can get most out of him then Yes, I love Zaniolo, in the right environment he can be great

People in the comment section playing career mode 26. Of course it would be amazing to buy three more players. However, I much prefer the current approach, where the management went all in to strengthen the obviously lacking positions with proper players, and then waits for Amorim te evaluate the players, the youngsters and the leavers. This way we can sell en after that buy the exact players that we actually need, without (just like last season) purchasing for the sake of it and having a 75M bench between Jashari and Ricci, where we just as well could have had a youth player like Comotto. Lets not get rushed into buying an expensive player like Alajbegovic just because Atalanta got a head start. The current structure is actually starting to look like a plan, which should be much preferred.

Although 8 think they’ve overspent on Ramos, their overall approach hasn’t been terrible. We have expensive players as it is already and we’ve been too quick to shun talent. I prefer the approach to get the best out of players before buying. Buying should be after you’ve exhausted all other options, instead of trying for the umpteenth time to buy our way out of trouble
Milan already have a #10, Christian Pulisic. The #10 position is where he plays for the USMNT and it is his natural position. Assuming Leao moves on, Milan should move Pulisic to the #10 position and get a new #11. If Milan would move Pulisic to the #10 position, they would get a better version of him and likely upgrade at the #11 also.
We’ll play with 2 #10s under Amorim, there’s no #11 in 3-4-2-1 formation.
CP is not a 10 on the USMNT. He is a left wing who often inverts.
3421 is our base config. The “2” are AM profiles rather than wing profiles.
This is why CP stays. His experience inverting, making the clever rum, game IQ and work rate make him a solid profile.
It is also why Leao is not being convinced to stay. His profile is standing on the touch line and taking on defenders. He can, but rarely tracks back. He loses his impact the more he inverts.
For my part this is what confuses me about Chuckweze. He is more like Leao in his standing out at the touch line and coming in. (Maybe this is to change our shape when needed in games?)
Chuckweze showed very low game IQ in his first two years with us. Constantly out of position with team mates trying to direct him to where he was supposed to be. Balance that with a high work rate.
So while a bit confused about keep Chuckweze I can see him as a solid sub and rotation guy.
Trincao is good but expensive. we should consider Yasin Ayari. He can play multiple roles, he has great vision and shooting ability as seen for Sweden in the world cup, contract expires in 12 months so he shouldn’t cost alot. 22 years old with 3-4 years of EPL experience and established member or Swedish national team. Would be a smart investment.
MAZA.
Pedro Goncalves is such a underrated player. If his injury problems in the last seasons is behind him then he would be a great signing if Milan can get him for 25-30 million. Zaniolo would be a good backup but Milan need to invest big in a great left footed right winger. The dream is selling Chucky and buy Foden or Cherki and Zaniolo as backup and on the other flank have Pulisic and Pedro Goncalves rotation on that spot.
CDK, Adli, Malda, Romero, Liberali all of them were high-quality no10 prospects,
we waste all of them
None of these players mentioned will make Milan a better team. Foden or Arda Guler would improve Milan or someone as good, and within reach.
