MN: Ibrahimovic in doubt for derby against Inter – the solutions Pioli is considering

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic might not be fit enough to start the derby against Inter and so Stefano Pioli is weighing up various different solutions, a report claims.

MilanNews reports that Ibrahimovic is still not at his best, and if fails to recover in time from the tendon inflammation that forced him off in the draw against Juventus, Pioli will have to choose between Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic to occupy the role of centre-forward in the derby.

The Frenchman is the natural replacement for the Swede, but the Croatian could be a ‘wild card’ of sorts given that in the game earlier in the season against Lazio, Liverpool and Juventus he showed some good signs operating as a striker.

Ibra is struggling with his Achilles tendon and is working alone at Milanello, but if he were fit enough to start then the Rossoneri head coach would not hesitate to field him as a starter.

Giroud has 2 goals and 1 assist in his last 5 games, so he could very well be the man given the nod, but with Rebic able to provide more fluidity and unpredictability to the attack, Pioli would have a decision to make.
