Reports: Milan in ‘advanced talks’ over Boniface – Leverkusen ‘learning towards yes’

This afternoon, a bit of a shock has occurred as AC Milan have submitted an official bid for Victor Boniface, per reports.

It has seemed, for the longest time, that Rasmus Hojlund or Dusan Vlahovic would be the one to arrive this summer. Reports even today have suggested as much, with Daniele Longo stating that they were the ‘only options’.

However, it appears that Milan have been working in the shadows, with reports suggesting that things are advanced with Victor Boniface.

Boniface: An advanced situation

In the past few minutes, Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Rossoneri are in ‘advanced talks’ with Bayer Leverkusen regarding a deal for the Nigerian. Negotiations are ‘underway’ with him already saying yes to a contract proposal.

What is also being reported is that an official offer has already been prepared and sent to Germany this afternoon, as Gianluca Di Marzio states, via MilanNews. The club, as is reported, have ‘decisively turned’ to Boniface, who is getting ‘closer and closer’.

Florian Plettenberg (via Garante_Il on X), a reporter for Sky Germany, also states that things are progressing, even adding that Leverkusen, though unsure about a deal, are ‘leaning towards yes’, perhaps due to the striker’s will to go to Milan.

  1. Interesting development, but Romano has his ways to get the most secretive operations, so let’s see. What do you think guys, regardless of price/contract terms – will he be better fit for the team compared to Hojlund/Vlahovic?

    1. Hojlund for sure, Vlahovic is hated on for no reason…

Juve gave him all the money and power and then sidelined him for a season, why would anyone want to work their a$$ off for a team like that?! he got 3M this summer for nothing

      1. well they sidelined him to push him to leave for a fee if he does not want a new contract and a reasonable salary with it. It’s true that Juve ff-ed themselves with his contract, but he is exploiting the presented opportunity and seems to be okay with the cash, rather than the game. Good for him, but not good signal for his future employer.

    2. In the near term he is the best choice by a stretch. 2-3 good years at high level.

Hojlund was about good now with huge upside.

Vhalobitch is a hugely talented prima donna and I do not believe he will be any better than he is today unless someone takes him on as a project.

We have Camarda as our future. So as Boniface slows a bit with age Camarda rises. (Boniface makes sense)

We have Leao as the project for Max. We don’t need another. Particular one who is poor in the dressing room.

I like this move, I like it’s sudden and decisive nature and I like that we still have a door open to Hojlund and Harder.

    3. I can still see them going for Vahlovic as well, I think he is an opportunity to good for Milan to turn down.

No Hoijlund and we are all extremely happy, don’t need that bad luck from Carrington to Milanello

    4. I think Boniface comes with less “baggage” than Vlahovic or Højlund. He comes with no pretext or pretension and if his I jury troubles are in the past, can thrive under Allegri

  2. first of all it’s “leaning” and not “learning towards yes”…

Boniface is a W compared to Hojlund… overrated and overpriced

  3. These sly fellows! If they can pull this through. And he will miss champions league?
Wow mehn. Kudos to this management’s operations this transfer window.

  4. Boniface is a good fit. Think he’ll cost around 40 mil. But wouldn’t it be better to add 10 mil. and get Moise Kean instead? What do others think about this?

  5. As soon as he got into a strong league injuries came. He looks looks like RLC of attackers to me. He has also had 2 cruciate ligament tears already. He was out for 2 years. If not around 15m Milan should pass.

    1. I don’t know how you define a strong league, but he was injured way longer earlier in his career with Bodø in Eliteserien than in either Saint-Gilloise or Leverkusen.
He was injured quite often during last season but seems to be doing well since february so who knows.

      1. Well it is simple, where your opponents are better and you are fully tested. That farmers league is not relevant to me. The guy had a cruciate ligament tear twice before 24. I would stay away.

        1. You said “As soon as he got into a strong league injuries came” and I pointed out that most of his injures came BEFORE he went to the Bundesliga. His injuries happened in the worst league he’s been to.
He had 2 ACLs before 24 that’s true, but his prime, best seasons, best goalscoring tally,… came AFTER his 2 ACLs.
He might stay fit, he might get injured, we don’t know for sure.

      1. For Union SG, he played 51 games in a season in 2022/23. This is a player that moved pass those early career ACLs. While he had some injuries earlier in 2024/25, he has been entirely fit since February.

        1. Agree – we all thought Pulisic was going to be injured all the time.. previous health at a club doesn’t always travel with the player

  6. Better than Hojlund/Vlaho, but still a gamble. This guy is a guarantee of nothing.

I’d prefer someone more reliable to pair up with Gimenez, some senior top gun, like we used to have Ibrahimovic or Giroud

    1. I am 100% with you on this but I cannot bring any names to mind that are the profile we want and the leader/presence of either of those.

      You have any ideas?

        1. Immobile is interesting but last I saw him play he looked cooked. Same with Icardi.

Cannot see Benzema, CR7 or Messi making any sort of realistic sense. Saudi and US are an elephant graveyard. Leave them buried.

Mitrovic is unfamiliar to me. I’ll take a look.

  7. If hes not always injured he would be great but also his attitude is not an easy one.. from his quality I prefer Boniface but his illness is same as Estupinan

  8. Boniface And Vlahovic – I’d be happy with that. Don’t forget, We’d lose Boniface to the ACN in late December until late January.

  9. Good player but injury prone we already have some injury prone players pulisic, stubinan, loftus cheek, and now this guy it’s like we are turning into hospital

  10. Boniface had injury issues like four years ago. He’s in better shape now. This is probably the best option.

Milannews.it is reporting that the talks are well advanced. This is a lot further ahead then this article indicates.

    1. The only other name of this caliber I can think of is Sorloth. Who is a lot older. Maybe we should go for him too? It is said he is unhappy at Atletico.

      1. He didn’t miss “half” of the season, rather a quarter of it in the early part of the season. This is the problem with you. You can’t be bothered to look anything up.

Transfermarketweb is a much better source than ChatGPT. I’ve called you out on this multiple times in the past where you messed up badly and made a poopy in your pants.

  11. The only name that in my opinion has potential to be a game-changer for our season. With huge question mark on injuries, which is why the price tag may be accessible to us.

  12. I think it is clear that Milan want to attack with speed. Boniface fits this. I also think Milan are going to play a lot of games with Puli and Laeo up top. So this signing is really as a deputy more than a starter. So the real question is…who is best when running at tired legs and or chasing a goal?

  13. His ACL injuries were in 2018/19. For Union SG he played 51 games in one season. For Bayer he played 34 games the first season and 27 the last. These are the last 3 years since 2022. Look it up. While he had some issue at the beginning of last season. He has been fit since February of this year with little to no issues.

Sure is relying on ChatGPT again.

    1. Clown. Last season he played 1500 minutes or less than 17 games. In all competitions. RLC played more. Why are you lying?

      1. Oh no, you aren’t lying. For a split second I forgot you’re a complete mo*on that needs instructions to check something.

          1. There is no one here that is less smart than you. 100%. If someone’s dog accidentally types a comment that is still valid. You don’t have basic common sense to understand some stuff kids should know.

          2. One day you’ll say the wrong thing to the wrong person. I’m not going to be that person, and I’ll take the high road out here. You aren’t a functioning adult. You’re not even a functioning person. Go get help.

      2. In all competitions, he played 27 games in 2024/25. This is according to Transfermarketweb. You don’t agree with the information? Go take it up with them. You need a slap in the face and showing a bit more respect, you id*ot.

        1. You don’t understand what I wrote. So if someone plays 2 minutes they played a full game? You are really re*arded. Someone can play 50 x 3 last minutes. Doesn’t mean they played 50 full games. It is basic common sense.

          1. Wow now throwing insults because you’re completely and absolutely brain dead. He played more than 1500 minutes. Now get lost, punk. You wouldn’t know facts if they slapped you in the head.

          2. 24/25 Bundesliga Bundesliga Bayer 04 Leverkusen 19 8 1.011′
            24/25 DFB-Pokal DFB-Pokal Bayer 04 Leverkusen 3 1 92′
            24/25 UEFA Champions League Champions League Bayer 04 Leverkusen 4 1 243′
            24/25 Franz-Beckenbauer-Supercup DFL-Supercup Bayer 04 Leverkusen 1 1 41′

            1011 + 92 + 243 + 41 = ?

Let me know if you can do this yourself or you need help adding it up.

      3. Not entirely correct either.

Leverkussen played 50 matches last season, Boniface played in 27 of them. Some because he played for Nigeria.
From this one might conclude he missed 46% of matches due to injury.

Another way of counting it is, how many matches did he miss for Leverkussen?
He was injured for 80 days total, missing 14 matches.
distributed between 5 different course of injurys.
In this case he missed 28% of matches for Leverkussen due to injury.

Question is, can you progress previous history of injuries in order to predict his playing time in the future?
If you answer yes, Pulisic would like a word with you.

        1. Question is can you try to present the obvious data to paint a false picture? Yes. Will it work? No.

He played 15 games in total last season. 15×90 minutes. You think having someone available for last 10 minutes and not match fit is the same as a striker in full match fitness? 😳

          1. 15 full games and 37 minutes more if you want to be exact. If he played 20 minutes per game he could have had 69 games last season. Could have done 138 if they played him for 10m per game? Some interesting statistics if you try to come up with nonsense.

          2. No, it was because he had 5 different injuries last season and probably wasn’t fully match fit until April. It is obvious. As he was about to get into full game fitness he’d get injured again and it kept going. Now it doesn’t mean it has to repeat next season but I don’t see why would Milan risk it on him? Only a loan with option sounds ok.

  14. Guy is lightning fast, fine dribbler, powerfull, only positioning is his concern. As long as he stay fit, he’ll become a trouble for our opponent

  15. I think milan sped up the operation due to leao’s injury and hojlund’s indecisiveness.
There aren’t many options in the market left so bona is welcomed.
Maybe another center back after bona, someone like kiwior.
Sell adli, bena and musah, and our market is done.

  16. Perfect profile for this squad. When healthy, he’s better than Sorloth who would be my second choice. Hjolund can’t hold up play or score, idk why he’s even considered.

  17. Boniface is a better striker than Hojlund and Vlahovic provided he stays fit. He’s missed two months in multiple seasons with injuries and that’s after his ACL in ’21 (*I think).

Serie A isn’t as very physically imposing as other leagues, and given we only play once a week, Boniface may stay fit. But that’s a big if …

        1. I can agree on the first part, doesn’t have to mean anything but Pulisic wasn’t real injury prone. RLC had x2 (and more) injuries and games missed when they joined Milan. So if someone writes something it doesn’t make it a fact automatically.

          1. And really important, in all that time Pulisic played 25% more minutes. So more time played and less than half of RLC injuries. Not in the same category, incomparable.

  18. Physically better than Dusan and Rasmus. There must be a good reason why Tare moved away from them. Probably not feasible financially.

  19. Boniface is the type of striker we need. Strong, fast, and a goodfinisher/passer. Details comin or that it could be a loan with option to buy for 30m can become obligation if certain things met.that is a brilliant deal and on the same day hearing origi going to leave. Tare is doing great work.

I also believe if Boniface can stay fit, he’s much better suited than hojlund or vlahovic. Hoping it progresses well and fast

    1. Yes, I also just read that it would be an option for 30M, maybe an obligation if certain conditions are met, which would be a very nice hedge. Great work Tare if true.

        1. I am not looking for a job, I don’t work for anyone but myself.

That is what people who can’t get a job says. LOL

  20. Some will never be convinced over any players. I’m all for this transfer. He’s better than Hojlund. And again, any ACL injuries he had were years ago and he has since been pass that.

I’m not going to respond to that diabolical and insufferable clown on here who finds the need to comment 50 times a day. Not worth my time or patience.

  21. Scoring consistently in any Club when healthy and plays 20+ games any season. Can play together with Gimenez too, and a good profile against low blocks. 10/10.

  22. Boniface is a better player than Hojlund, but also older. We need quality and not talent and he is much cheaper, so a perfect solution.

Vlahovic is so overrated, expensive in transfer and wages, plus pure poison in the dressing room. Let him and Juventus drag each other down.

  23. Boniface for me is better then Hojlund or Vlahovic.
Conrad seems also good but i not understand why we let Camarda out 🤔
