CM: Milan intensify discussions with France after surprise Rabiot call-up – the situation

Adrien Rabiot has been named in the preliminary France squad for their upcoming internationals, despite his absence since the last break.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Rabiot played his last competitive match for Milan on October 5th before the injury he suffered while playing for France. The soleus muscle tear sidelined the former Marseille man for a month, causing him to miss the matches against Fiorentina, Pisa, Atalanta and Roma.

This significant absence was not ideal for Massimiliano Allegri and the Rossoneri, at a crucial stage of the season in which they faced a tough run of games. Now, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer, but the club hoped to have him remain in Italy over the break to get back to 100%.

Deschamps’ call

The latest news is Rabiot’s preliminary call-up to the French national team. Coach Didier Deschamps has summoned the ex-PSG man for the upcoming matches against Ukraine and Azerbaijan, which has caused some surprise.

In the last few hours, discussions have intensified between the Milan management and the French Football Federation to find a sensible solution, considering that Rabiot is still injured and the Rossoneri have had to do without him for the past month.

Preparations for Saturday night’s clash at the Stadio Tardini against Parma are continuing at Milanello. A double session is taking place today (Wednesday), during which Christian Pulisic should return to full training.

It’s a different story for Rabiot, who will miss Saturday’s match. He hopes to then be available to Allegri for the derby after the break, but it remains to be seen what will happen with his national team duties.

  1. Considering that Rabiot’s injury is likely due to les Bleus’ incompetence in diagnostic, I’d like to have him rest until the derby.
And it’s not like France lacks quality midfielders for them to be so desperate about Rabiot.

    1. Maybe deschamp wants rabiot to get dopamine added to his leg, you know like Van Basten back then to get him ready for important matches.

  2. This is more a power struggle with the clubs and national teams. Milan is paying his salary and has every right not to release the player if he is still injured.

  3. Its crazy France haven’t gotten rid of deschamps already anyway. The guy is surviving purely off of the 2018 cup, because he’s failed every year since then with one of the biggest generations in national team history, mostly due to his own arrogance and refusal to not only change tactic but change squads. He picks his favorites for every 11 and then wonders why they’ve struggled at every tournament since Russia. No attempt to introduce new blood, criticizing guys like Saliba, one of the best CBs in the world, all while continuing to start the likes of Thuram, kante, Upamecano, thauvin, and even pogba until he wasn’t allowed to. He probably has 1 tournament left to save his job tbh. With the depth of talent they have, they should have a lot more than just 1 trophy in over a decade

    1. I remember a game in the last Euro where he had a midfield 3 consisting of Camavinga, Tchouaméni and Kanté.
This is not a midfield for a team that wants to win, this is a midfield for a besieged city that wants to hold the fortress.

  4. These things have completely turned me off of international football. France doesn’t feel confident of taking on Azerbaijan and Ukraine down one starter? Talk about a bunch of p***ys. The French haven’t had a spine since Verdun 😂

    1. “The French haven’t had a spine since Verdun” Haha 😀 that’s a pretty wicked but funny comment Nelli.
