Libero: Milan and Inter competing for Empoli star – the opposing strategies outlined

By Oliver Fisher -

After going head to head in the battle for the Scudetto, AC Milan and Inter are reportedly ready to duel for a midfielder in the summer window.

According to this morning’s edition of the paper Libero (via MilanNews), both Milan clubs are interested in Kristjan Asllani, the 20-year-old regista who has had an excellent season with Empoli.

Inter want to sign him as a deputy for Marcelo Brozovic, but Milan are also keen and they have a slightly different approach in mind compared to their city rivals.

Beppe Marotta is aiming to convince Empoli – who value Asllani at €15m – by inserting a counterpart in the negotiation, which could be Sebastiano Esposito. Milan, on the other hand, would leave the player on loan at Empoli for at least another season.

Given the departure of Franck Kessie and the possible loan termination of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Milan are in need of a couple of midfield reinforcement.
