AC Milan and Inter are both eyeing the same goalkeeper as potential replacements for Mike Maignan and Yann Sommer respectively.
According to TMW, the summer window might have only just closed but these next few months will be crucial for understanding some clubs’ strategies for next year. The Maignan issue is one of the hottest, but keep an eye on what could happen at Inter with Sommer.

The feeling is that both could leave at the end of the season, which is why Inter and Milan are considering potential replacements. In this sense, a Milan derby ‘is looming’ with Elia Caprile is one of the players being monitored and is highly sought after.
He’s not the only one, as Alex Meret’s name is also worth considering despite his recent contract extension with Napoli until 2027. However, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s presence could gradually change the situation, so he remains a possibility worth considering.

Moretto’s words
Matteo Moretto – in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel – gave an update on Maignan’s contract situation and he gave some worrying news.
“[…] Currently, the parties are far apart regarding a renewal. Maignan’s contract expires in 2026; he’s 30 years old, and the parties haven’t resumed talks regarding a possible renewal. The situation is currently completely at a standstill.
“There are those within Milan who suspect that Maignan, starting in January, will decide to reach agreements with other clubs on a free transfer. The more time passes, the more this idea is gaining traction.”

Who withdrew the contract agreed? Don’t put the blame on maignan. Why offer a contract and withdraw it. That’s unethical and downright disrespectful.
If he agrees a contract with another club in January, Milan should learn their lesson.
Dunno if you noticed, but Maignan’s save numbers have been absolutely terrible for the last two seasons.
Basically he’s been in the bottom half of Serie A for all goalkeepers.
He wants to get paid like he’s a world class goalkeeper, but he’s not performing like a world class goalkeeper.
So, Milan finally realized they were not going to get their money’s worth by paying him the big amount of money that they initially offered, and offered him a lower salary as befitting an average goalkeeper.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in him.
HAHAHA! If they sign him, they will quickly discover that Maignan is not an improvement over their howler-prone Robert Sanchez.
“Why offer a contract and withdraw it. ”
Because things changed.
Nobody blame maignan if he want leave free transfer especially if ACM win scudetto this season ( maybe ? ) . He is always professional and not trouble maker in dressing room . Every player will leave someday. GK always easy position to replace, you dont need super star expensive GK if your defense strong like this season
