AC Milan and Inter are looking at the possibility of purchasing San Siro, but the clubs are still open to alternatives, a report has suggested.
It never is simple when it comes to San Siro. At the start of the year, both clubs listened to plans to renovate the stadium, but later decided against going forward with the proposal. Now, the clubs are considering purchasing the stadium.
As always, though, it is not that simple.
Il Giorno (via Milan News) write that the clubs are still looking to keep their options open, and this was placed in the document sent to the City Council. Within their letter, it was stated that ‘no responsibility can be attributed to the undersigned in the event of failure to present the updated feasibility document or the economic proposal, or in the event that an agreement is not reached on the project and/or the relative economic conditions, and therefore this expression of interest is of a non-binding nature’.
Given this was just a letter signifying their interest, it would not be taken as a confirmation that the clubs were going ahead with this plan, but it is vital that this was included, as it allows other options to come into play.
Milan are still adamant about their wishes to move to San Donato in the future, and a recent meeting with the City Councillors rejected some motions put forward against the plans, showing that things are going well in regard to that.
However, Mayor Sala has stated that a document including an economic offer for the stadium must arrive by March next year, but it is not stated what will occur if this does not arrive. Certainly another twist in the tale, but this story has been full of them.
I think they are taking too long because they dont have the funds for the stadium. Because 3/4 years to decide where is going to be. Is a joke. They promised that by 2026 will be ready. With this pace we will never have a new Stadium!!
