Report: Maldini has concrete interest in bringing Napoli star Insigne to Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are ready to compete with rivals Inter to sign Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer, according to a report.

The Italy international has not yet reached an agreement to renew his current contract with Napoli with many reports suggesting that there is a substantial difference between what the Partenopei are willing to offer and the demands of Insigne.

This has fuelled exit rumours, and Spanish source Fichajes reports that Simone Inzaghi wants to welcome him at Inter next June 30, the date on which his contract in Naples ends.

However, Milan also have the name of the 30-year-old footballer on their wish list as technical director Paolo Maldini is on a quest to continue improving the Rossoneri squad, and sees Insigne as a player who could help them compete for trophies again.

At the moment Insigne maintains the hope of being able to reach a renewal agreement with Napoli, but the very high economic demands have complicated things. The San Siro is very much a possible destination.
