Matteo Moretto has confirmed AC Milan’s interest in signing Mario Gila, but revealed a worry about relations with Lazio.
Milan are in the market for a new central defender, and one of the names that has been spoken about the most is Gila. He was brought to the Italian capital from Real Madrid by Milan’s current sporting director Igli Tare in 2022, and he wants to repeat the coup at his new club.
It is easy to see why Gila appeals to the Rossoneri now too. He is versatile given that he can play in a three or a four-man defence, he knows the league well with his years of experience, and at 25 years of age he still has many good years ahead of him all being well.
Relations ‘cold’
Moretto published a video on his YouTube channel in which he gave updates on various topics related to the transfer window, and he shed some light on the Gila situation. MilanNews transcribed what he had to say.
“In January I told you that Gila’s arrival at Milan straight away was impossible. Gila is a name that Milan still likes and they are considering him for the summer,” he said.
“He is on the Rossoneri’s list to strengthen the defence. There is a lot of competition: many clubs like him and he is accessible financially. Relations between Milan and Lazio at the moment are cold, tepid…”
