Report suggests Milan have shown interest in 26-year-old Valencia centre-back

By Oliver Fisher -

Valencia defender Mouctar Diakhaby is on AC Milan’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Fichajes.net in Spain report how Diakhaby was at the time considered one of the best centre-back prospects in French football when he was at Lyon and was earning links with a move to Barcelona.

However, the move he ended up getting was to Valencia in the summer of 2018 for a fee of €15m, having since played a total of 141 games for the LaLiga side in which he has scored six goals. His inconsistent performances have prevented him being established as one of the league’s best, but Milan are interested in him ahead of the summer.

Milan are one of the clubs that have shown the most interest so far in signing the 26-year-old, who is under contract until June 2027, but nothing else is mentioned in terms of potential formula or transfer fee.

  1. If there’s a position where we are really well covered, with plenty of good to excellent options, is the defense. We really don’t need to invest on new defenders, what we BADLY need is a new center-forward and a new box-to-box midfielder. As for a new attacking-midfielder, I have faith that CDK will be our man on the next season.

    1. We only have 3 CBs worth a damn and we play with 3 man defense. How are we well covered in defense?
What plenty of good to excellent options?
Who we have besides the starting trio? Slow old kjaer and Gabbia?
This is same prisoner of the moment reaction as last season when most fans were saying we don’t need to sign a starting CB because of how good Kalulu and Tomori were towards the end of the season. How that turned out? We had to change our whole system and play defensive style football just so those 2 don’t get exposed anymore.
We absolutely need another CB, especially left footed.
Kjaer is a liability and Gabbia is most likely leaving

      1. “Slow old Kjaer” kept the best goal scorer of EPL this millennia pretty damn quiet two weeks ago. Just saying pace isn’t everything. And I guess the 35-year-old Messi has shown that players over 30 can actually be useful.

But some people only play video games and are so out of touch with reality that they don’t understand these things.

        1. As I’m pretty sure you didn’t know, Messi was just selected as the Player of the year. Yeah, that 35-year-old geezer. How about that?

          1. Another prisoner of the moment. He kept the best scorer of the EPL quiet because Kane is also slow, plus he was given a lot of leeway by the ref to kick Kane especially in the 1st half without getting a yellow card.
But let’s forget the inter and Lazio games when he was on the field and Milan was getting destroyed defensively because of his lack of speed.
And please never compare the best footballer of all time with a journeyman CB.
Messi is an offensive player and most of the game, over the last few years, including the WC, he spends walking on the field.
Love messi, but when he isn’t around the ball, his team plays with a man down.
You can’t do that as a CB.
Milan needs an upgrade over both kjaer and Gabbia, especially kjaer who is unreliable health wise

          2. Modric also won Ballon d’Or when he was 33. He’s not the fastest man alive either. Football can be played with other qualities as well. Even as a CB.
