CM.it: Milan need to invest in a striker – the wish list from David and Balogun

The change in formation to a three-man defence could well have an effect on AC Milan’s strategy in the summer window, a report claims.

Qualification for the Champions League is very important for Milan as it would allow Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to have more possibilities when it comes to the mercato. Calciomercato.it report that there is unlikely to be any crazy spending but that the budget, which could still be around €50m, can be enriched thanks to sales and moving forward in the Champions League.

The choice on the deputy goalkeeper was made some time ago and Marco Sportiello will sign on a free, while a Kessie-like profile is sought for the midfield. Maldini and Massara have not let go of the hope that Vranckx could be the next Thiaw, though he has a €11-12m option to buy.

The big investment is likely to come in attack with a signing worth €40-50m given the need to sign a new centre-forward for the future. Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is a profile the Rossoneri management like a lot, but there is likely to be a lot of competition.

Folarin Balogun of Reims (on loan from Arsenal), Jonathan David of Lille and and Elye Wahi from Montpellier are also on the list of targets.
