GdS: Milan likely to invest in a striker this summer – €40m+ Atalanta sensation a target

By Oliver Fisher -

A number of teams are interested in signing striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta as he continues to impress in his first Serie A season, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Hojlund has already scored five goals in the league this season with the most recent being in the six-pointer against Lazio at the Olimpico on Saturday.

He was acquired by the Bergamo club last summer from Sturm Graz for €17m but now his value has already at least doubled and is destined to reach €40m soon, with several Italian and foreign clubs keen on the Dane.

Among the clubs keen is Milan, who are likely to make an important investment in the centre-forward role in the summer, however the Rossoneri have competitions from Inter, Juventus and Napoli as well, and it won’t be easy to beat the interest from the Premier League teams too,.

If the Nerazzurri, Bianconeri and Neapolitans could sign Hojlund to possibly replace one of the current forwards (Lukaku, Vlahovc or Osimhen), for Milan the 20-year-old would represent a reinforcement for the attack and could become a new starter depending on what the plans are for Giroud and Ibrahimovic.

  1. Hahahaha I knew it. When I watched this guy this last weekend something came to my mind that today Monday Milan will be interested in him.
This is The kind of a player we deserved not old player but someone who has future ahead of him

  2. It is better to bring striker from another League.
Serie A is on bottom of top 5 leagues.
We can see how Vlahovic in Juventus is not on the same level like in Fiorentina, and Vlahovic was bought to make difference in champions league.
We need more of French players who make difference in Serie A . So again someone from Lille.

    1. “Serie A is on bottom of top 5 leagues.”

So genius, remind me again how many French teams are in the last 16 in UCL this season? 😀

    2. The absolute disrespect to Serie A.
If it wasn’t for P$G having a boatload of Qatari money to buy messi mbappe neymar, ligue 1 would nt even be in the top 5 leagues.

  3. The price getting high. Milan money wont be able to get it.. remember last season with Kvaratskhelia ? Napoli get it only 10m when maldini almost done with it but the American money refuse it

    1. No, I don’t remember last season with Kvaratskhelia. Please remind me. I don’t recall anything about Kvaratskhelia to Milan even from the usual rumor mills that you take as real news, except one or two clickbait posts AFTER he’d signed for Napoli. When did the club release a statement saying they were trying to buy him, or a statement saying they just missed out? Also, why would we sign an LW last summer when we already had Leao and a backup in Rebic? Stop making sh!t up.

        1. Maybe the usual one or two from random sources saying Milan were “looking” at him? How many players do we “look” at? Hardly seems like some kind of a “miss”. There is a huge difference between quoting Maldini after a return from Belgium in an attempt to sign a player and the million “reports” from “MilanNews”, “CM”, “GdS”, etc.

And again, why would we sign an LW if we had Leao and Rebic?

  4. Dreams, dreams ,dreams. We only take broken players. Or no contract. Red bird first priority is Liverpool so we are only a business matter to them rather than a Winning Team

  5. No way we can buy him, Milan needs to focus on players that are less known. Like signing him from Sturm last summer, he is now out of reach of Milan.

  6. I am so sick of this topic Milan need a striker and also ppl that think that striker is the most important player that we lack. If we have good enough of suply we can almost put everyone infront. I mean even messi struggles to score and take the game into his own and be barely have money to buy his schoes and not someone of his calibre. We lack creativity, we need more players to be able to beat his man and make a good pass on regular basis and not now and then. We need tactical adjustments when we lose and when someone is out of form.

    1. “If we have good enough of suply we can almost put everyone infront. ”

Yep. Plenty of people have tried since Zlatan left and pretty much all of them have failed. Giroud was FINALLY the one to “broke the #9 curse”. The issue isn’t #9. It’s the lack of service and predictable “game plan” (if you can even call it that).

  7. Ooh one season he’s a beast next season not so good 😂 pls get Jonathan David even when lille doesn’t do well he still scores wtf

  8. We’re not paying 40m for Hojland given our other needs. So forget about this rumor. I would place my hopes on a free transfer of Marcus Thuram, who is doing well in the Bundesliga this season, is out of contract this summer and is 6’4″ (we need height!). He’s actually got more goals than the much talked about “missed opportunity” Muani.

    1. Thurman is also a dream unfortunately – so yes he’s a free agent but that only means he will ask for a huge salary – which is something we will not give. He is not coming to Milan for 4M/season (wage cap). So dream another dream

  9. he came last summer and he has only scored 6 goals, and people are over hyping him when even Giroud has scored more with his bad form, i watch atalanta games and the guy only runs about forgetting the ball behind him most times, if we had played lazetic more, i bet he would be better than the guy

    1. He is about the same as Giroud, but he is 20. Time to learn. But Beto is better and cheaper, at least for now…Milan can’t buy ready players, has to gamble on talents and hope money won’t be wasted…

  10. Milan should not make the same mistake as they did with Piatek. Hojlund is not worth 30-40m because he’s having 1 good season. This is a waste of money and a huge risk for Milan.

Instead, Milan should sign Marcus Thuram from Monchengladbach on a free transfer. Sell Leao for a 80-100m and sign Lookman from Atalanta to replace Leao.

We will then have enough money to get a proper RW and AM. Return Diaz back to Real Madrid. Not worth the 22m.

Sign players like Adopo from Torino to replace Kessie. We can offer Pobega to Torino to lower the cost for Adopo.

Sign Udogie as backup for Theo. Udogie is a good wingback. Sell Gabbia. Thiaw is his natural replacement.

Sign N’Dicka to replace Kjaer. No need to extend Kjaer’s contract. He’s loss his edge and he doesn’t look good. Time to say goodbye to Kjaer.

Sell Rebic and Messias. Sign Armand Lauriente from Sassuolo who can play both LW & RW.

Sell Origi and replace him with Beto from Udinese. Milan will then have a good competitive squad for Serie A and UCL.

  11. No to Hojlund. This is another Piatek mistake waiting to happen.

We should sell Leao to improve the squad and replace him with Lookman from Atalanta.

Sell Origi and get Beto from Udinese.

Use the money from Leao sale and sign Udogie.

Then sell Gabbia and get N’Dicka on a free transfer.

Get rid of Messias and sign Zaniolo
