Benfica's Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez

GdS: Milan’s new owners ready to spend big this summer – €80m striker top of wish list

AC Milan could have a bolstered summer budget if the Investcorp takeover goes through in a timely manner, and there is already a striker target on their agenda.

According to what La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it) writes, the Bahrain-based fund will announce themselves to Italian football with a €300m summer transfer window thanks to the liquidity deriving from the change of ownership and the status of a club who are again fighting for trophies and are back in the Champions League.

The first name on the wish list of the Rossoneri management is Darwin Nunez of Benfica, who has 33 goals scored in 36 games this season alone including 6 goals in 9 Champions League appearances.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara believe that Nunez is the perfect striker to re-establish Milan and provide certainties for an attack that should say goodbye to Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer or next, while Olivier Giroud (35) is also out of contract in 2023.

The Uruguayan forward is valued at €80m so he would represent the most expensive purchase ever for the Diavolo, but at the same time that figure would be amortised over a long-term contract with a salary of only around €4-5m net per season, which can access the benefits of the growth decree too.

  1. We need not spend big, instead, let’s spend wisely. A young pacy CAM / CF along with classy RW and CB is enough.

With 3 classy signings, we will be among Europe’s elite. 80% of squad rebuilding is already complete with MMM at the helm.

  2. I hope this is true but GDS not reliable source. Better wait till Fabrizio Romano or Anto vitiello announce it. Darwin if accept 4m euro nett salary Will be huge benefit for AC milan

  3. Nunuz is much better than the idea to buy Sebastian Haller, in term of quality and the age. Having Nunez, Origi, and Giroud in front will upgrade Milan attach very much. Also okay for Nkuku and Monaco’s midfielder to replace Diaz and Kessie, respectively. Asensio also can join to boost Milan right wing.

    1. Yeah me too want him join us,but let see if invest corp really buy AC Milan or not on may/june. If they buy AC Milan maybe they want to bomb transfer market like Yong Hong Li did on 1st season to impress fans. Darwin and Antony ( Ajax RW) Will be strengthen squad to compete in CL

      1. Investcorp is not like Hong Li. Because Hong Li borrowed money to invest in Milan while investcorp have there own money and have intention of taking Milan to the top just like mancity, psg etc. I hope the sales pull through so we can come back the way Milan used to be. I trust Maldini, with good cash he will bring best of best players to Milan

    2. Nunez would also score less than 10 goals in Serie A with the service Giroud has “enjoyed”. The issue isn’t the striker but the lack of creativity and poor passing/crossing.

      1. Lol, Giroud has a few last night, he couldn’t even hit the target. He is useless in play and doesn’t really hit the target, shooting stats don’t lie. The myth that Giroud would score more in any other team is a myth. Same like Belotti.

      2. With the likes of yacine Adli coming back from bordeaux our strikers will enjoy good long passes and creativity from the midfield
