MN: Sizeable investment or Tomori-style deal – Milan weighing up two paths in CB pursuit

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are considering two different solutions in their pursuit of a new centre-back to fill the gap left by Simon Kjaer’s season-ending injury, it is claimed.

According to MilanNews, directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working to identify the right profile in view of the January market, a window that is always difficult in terms of identifying the perfect target and persuading their club to part with them.

Maldini and Massara could bring forward the permanent signing of a strong defender in January, immediately investing the budget foreseen for the summer, or they could once again go with a loan with option to buy deal like they did with Fikayo Tomori in January of this year.

One thing is certain: Pioli will have a reinforcement for the rearguard at the beginning of 2022 and it will not be a simple stopgap or an option that comes with any kind of risk, but rather a player that offers guarantees for the present and the future.

  1. Stam says:

    In the summer of 2022:
    Zlatan is 41
    Giroud is 36
Colombo is 21 and its his start in serie a.
CBs: now we have 5. January arrival, Kjaer, Tomori, Romagnoli. Gabbia wastes his potential on the bench.

The budget is 0. All used up to buy a CB.

All this to play 44 games, because without new striker we end up at CL bottom again.

    1. Jan says:

No, as we won’t even reach CL for next year without proper attacking reinforcement

    2. Nelli says:

Romagnoli contract will not be renewed if Milan buy another CB. Win the league and Milan will have a decent budget for the summer plus Adli and Columbia return, Kamara joins on a free. Milan finally sign a attacking midfielder.

    3. Rossonero Vero says:

Kjaer will be 33 with a career-ending injury in terms of magnitude. He won’t be the same again, nor will he be able to play all the games.
Romagnoli is out of contract in 6 months, while Gabbia is very slow, very afraid with the ball on his feet and not talented enough (simple as that).

  2. Rosso says:

isnt 7 goals in 10 games good with ibra.? and hes not getting injured too. And he has done this with the B class attacking midfielder with the exception of leao but still rebic is huge difference and sal, brahim, others are not good. So i think we should look for CAM, cm rather than crying for striker. Well ur point is right but i dun feel like ibra is gonna get injured bcz he clearly mentioned in interview i need to listen to my body and he is going quite. I would support u if he gets injured.
