MN: Sizeable investment or Tomori-style deal – Milan weighing up two paths in CB pursuit

AC Milan are considering two different solutions in their pursuit of a new centre-back to fill the gap left by Simon Kjaer’s season-ending injury, it is claimed.

According to MilanNews, directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working to identify the right profile in view of the January market, a window that is always difficult in terms of identifying the perfect target and persuading their club to part with them.

Maldini and Massara could bring forward the permanent signing of a strong defender in January, immediately investing the budget foreseen for the summer, or they could once again go with a loan with option to buy deal like they did with Fikayo Tomori in January of this year.

One thing is certain: Pioli will have a reinforcement for the rearguard at the beginning of 2022 and it will not be a simple stopgap or an option that comes with any kind of risk, but rather a player that offers guarantees for the present and the future.
