CM: Milan hunting for an Italian deputy to Theo Hernandez – the names considered

By Oliver Fisher -

One position that the AC Milan management are looking to address is the role of deputy left-back as Fode Ballo-Toure has not convinced, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com recall how the back-up role to Theo Hernandez has been somewhat of a poisoned chalice given Ricardo Rodriguez and Diego Laxalt left without getting many chances and now a similar fate awaits Ballo-Touré. He has a market in France and will leave at the end of the season for a figure of around €5m.

Milan would like to sign a new left-back to replace him but a key bit of news is that they would like an Italian to fill the gap. Fabiano Parisi could be the right man, but Empoli are asking for €15m.

Both Emanuele Valeri from Cremonese and Antonino Gallo from Lecce have been watched but both are not entirely convincing, while a more difficult track leads to Carlos Augusto of Monza, who has an Italian passport.

They would like to keep the 24-year-old least for another season given he has four goals and three assists in 20 games so far in the current campaign, while the Brazilian’s willingness to battle for a place with Theo Hernandez must also be evaluated.

    1. because the youth sector hasn’t produced homegrown player that could at least become deputy for first team player lately. like…bozzolan is a youth with prospect. but he still a long way from becoming a deputy of theo. just like gabbia is in the bottom of pecking order for cb right now.

  1. Italian passport is irrelevant.
The “italiannes” that we need from our players means they can be put on hoe-grown lists.

Carlos Augusto is Brazilian product. There is no advantage in getting him compared to any other player from EU.

    1. Last year there was good chooice of LBs. Udogie, Hickey, Cambiasso – all gone for reasonable money. Parisi is the only good “italian” option left at this point.

      1. Not sure where you’ve been the past few years, but given all of our other needs the club wasn’t going to pay 15m for a back up last summer. It isn’t going to pay it this summer either. End of story with Udogie, Hickey, Cambiaso, Parisi, etc. This player is going to be

        1. LOL What? Where did I say we had money to buy them?

I said they were there last year and now they’re gone. Besides Cambiaso was 7M, and now Parisi, who is worse, is going to be 15.

So I have no idea what are you moaning about.

  2. I want to like Pairsi but he has been horrible when I have seen him play.

It is difficult to believe Bozzolan could be much worse.

  3. Parisi or Beruatto would be good options. Otherwise if Kerkez is an option, he should be considered. Through is FBT into any deal.

  4. We already had him and his name was Kerkez and we sold him despite being under a long term contract for only 2M LOL. Now we are gonna spend 15M for a backup? Lol. More like we will sell Theo or he will ask to leave if we miss CL and ownership will pocket the majority of the $$ and spend on a cheaper replacement. Fun times.

  5. Ballo toure not even play if theo fit , sell him fast to highest bid and use that money to buy carlos augosto , that will provide competition on LWB /LB with theo. Monza will sell if AC Milan coming to ask price
