QS: Milan plot Italian ‘revolution’ – Newcastle and Spurs stars among nine targets

While waiting to see who the new sporting director and head coach will be, AC Milan seem to be taking a clear direction: becoming more Italian.

Quotidiano Sportivo reports that from Monday, however, the process of hiring a new director will resume. After the sudden slowdown in negotiations with Fabio Paratici, the figures that remain are Igli Tare, Tony D’Amico, Giovanni Sartori and Giovanni Manna, but only the first is free.

A more Italian Milan

There are several players who for various reasons will not be kept, but the idea is to open the doors of Milanello to Italian players, who can join Matteo Gabbia, Francesco Camarda and others to form a homegrown core.

There are many targets, some of which are very expensive. There are young players but also highly experienced profiles on the list, so that the squad can be well-balanced and can give a hand to the new coach immediately.

The biggest dream is to bring back Sandro Tonali, owned by Newcastle. Despite the separation that occurred in July 2023, the bond between the player and Milan has remained very strong. The midfielder would gladly return to Italy, but the cost would be high.

Sticking with the midfield, the 23-year-old Samuele Ricci is very popular. Back in January the Rossoneri tried to get ahead of the competition, enquiring about the possibility of getting him early from Torino, but the price quoted was above €30m.

Other roles

The name of Lorenzo Lucca, on the other hand, is the one that interests the most for attack. The Udinese striker is also in Inter’s sights and this season he has already scored 12 goals in 31 games played across the league and the Coppa Italia.

In the forward department, the spotlight is also on Federico Chiesa (looking for redemption after a failed year at Liverpool) and Riccardo Orsolini (who Bologna will hardly let go of cheaply). Giovanni Fabbian (who grew up in the youth sector at Inter) is another Rossoblu star being watched.

In defence, Pietro Comuzzo is a target. Fiorentina are asking for a lot to sell him, having refused €35m offered by Napoli in January. Also under observation is Diego Coppola of Verona and Destiny Udogie, who could leave Spurs to come back to Serie A.

  1. Nothing can’t get me excited about this Milan… Only a management revolution as these guys proved once and once again their total lack of football IQ

  2. We’ll spend from now till July talking about a revolution that includes the likes of Tonali, Udogie, Ricci, Coppola etc, and then we’ll sign Reyna, a one season wonder from Ligue 1, and [add any player not getting game time at Chelsea].

You all know it deep in your hearts.

      1. Tomori + Thiaw… Newcastle can’t spend too much due to FFP and even more if they miss out on UCL

Their aging defense is a problem… Burn and Botman are the only real CBs they have…

If Tonali pushes and we offer these 2, I think it would benefit both clubs

They would only then need to sign a replacement and a RW to complete the squad

    1. Agreed, we can’t afford most of these players (Tonali – how?!) and we won’t be able to offer them champions league football, so your summation seems much more accurate. Sancho maybe this year? Actually wouldn’t mind Chilwell.

    2. Could not agree any more with that. You are so accurate on this. That’s exactly the game this club will play. 👍👍👍

  3. With what money? Any sale will first have to cover the loss created by missing CL qualification. And don’t be delusional, it’s not like they will generate 200 millions from sales.

    1. I don’t think you realize how much deadwood there is to unload. The question is Furlani competent enough to unload it and cash in?

      1. Half of them will be loaned out with options. Only certainty are Kalulu and Saele. Benny is a big maybe. The rest are certainly coming back.

Kalulu, Saele and Benny are to cover the loss.

  4. Lots of interesting names but the fact is that we can perhaps afford only one of them and even then persuading the player to join a team with no UCL will be a struggle.
