Matteo Moretto has confirmed that AC Milan are looking to try recruit more Italian players, but not a Napoli defender who has been linked.
Milan are currently on course for a return to playing in a European competition next season, which means there will be a squad list quota to hit regarding homegrown players, both from the club’s own academy and from other youth sectors around Italy.

Leonardo Spinazzola is a name that could tick the latter box. The Napoli wing-back has a deal which expires at the end of the season and appeals because of the experience and versatility he would provide, at least according to the Naples-based Radio Kiss Kiss.
More Italians wanted
During his daily video update on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto took stock of Milan’s plans for the summer, confirming the desire to focus on more Italians, but not on Spinazzola. MilanNews relayed his words.
“Milan are also moving forward in the transfer market. They have several targets to strengthen the squad. The attack is the most important area. The guiding principle is to strengthen the squad, if possible, with Italian players,” he said.
“Among the Italian names recently announced for AC Milan is Leonardo Spinazzola, whose contract with Napoli is expiring. However, from what I understand, Spinazzola is not a priority target for Milan, especially given his age, which doesn’t fit the Rossoneri’s criteria.
“The left-back has several interesting clubs, and Napoli is trying to extend his contract, but as of now, the situation with Milan doesn’t seem as exciting as some say. Milan is currently looking elsewhere.”
