San Siro is a stadium that George Weah got to know very well during his time at AC Milan, but on Saturday he will watch his son run out their rivals.

As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport writes, George Weah played for Monaco, PSG and Milan, scored more than 200 goals in his career and lifted a Ballon d’Or, but for him the biggest pride comes watching his son play.

“I have always supported Juventus for my idol Michel Platini,” the former Rossoneri striker has said several times. Thus, his son Tim is living his dream of sorts by playing for the Bianconeri, and on Saturday he will be a protagonist at San Siro against Milan.

He could play in the centre of the attack like his father did too, in place of the injured Dusan Vlahovic. It would be more of a ‘false nine’ interpretation of the role, but either way Milan-Juve will have a Weah up front again.

When George scored his first goal at San Siro against Juve, in the famous 2-1 in 1995 that Fabio Capello remembers as one of his best games, Timothy hadn’t even been born. Weah’s last goal in red and black at the Meazza (14 December 1999) was 70 days before his birth (22 February 2000).

Nonetheless, Weah Jr. is ready to experience a night as a leading man at his father’s ‘home’ and it’s not because of the past, but because of the present. Timothy emerged transformed from the injury that slowed him down at the start of the season and earned the trust of Thiago Motta.

Of the four goals in the league, Tim has scored three in the last four games. He netted in the Derby d’Italia against Inter and in the Derby della Mole against Torino, with a goal against Parma in between. He averages a goal every 131 minutes (Vlahovic is at one every 144).
