Romano: Milan linked with Firmino move – the situation including Liverpool’s stance

Denials have arrived regarding suggestions that AC Milan have expressed an interest in signing Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino ahead of next summer.

Firmino is out of contract at the end of the season meaning any interested club in Europe will be able to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January, and there is nothing to suggest a renewal with Liverpool is imminent.

Even though he has been a key part of the trio including Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah over the past few years, the Reds brought in Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez meaning that he is no longer an indisputable starter.

At 31 years old he may try for a new challenge, and Calciomercatoweb, reported that Milan have joined Juventus in the race to sign the Brazilian on a free, just as the Rossoneri signed Origi in the recent mercato.

However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting on his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside that there are no talks between Milan or Juventus with Roberto Firmino, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Firmino is still regarded as an important player at Liverpool, and a decision will be made in 2023 regarding his future, while speculation about negotiations between Juventus and Firmino in July were ‘completely fake’.
