MN: Milan XI to face Juventus takes shape but two major dilemmas remain

By Oliver Fisher -

Clues are beginning to arrive from training about the starting line-up that Stefano Pioli will field in Sunday’s crucial game against Juventus at San Siro.

According to MilanNews, there were several training drills and even games at Milanello today, with Pioli shuffling players around in both the midfield and in attack. The defensive department is the one that has the most certainties at the moment with Alessio Romagnoli back partnering Pierre Kalulu, while Alessandro Florenzi and Theo Hernandez will be on the flanks.

The two big dilemmas are who will play next to Sandro Tonali in the double pivot and who will play as central attacking midfielder. The first indications suggest that Tiemoue Bakayoko will be next to Tonali with Rade Krunic playing as the No.10 in place of Brahim Diaz.

However, there was also a game done with the Bosnian next to Tonali and Brahim Diaz in his place behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with Alexis Saelemaekers on the right wing and Rafael Leao on the left.

  1. I’m tired of seeing Pioli’s love for Lord Krunic. Why the hell does he needs to play every game? Why pioli has to use 4321 if you don’t have players to play? Use 4321, 442, 4141 or 352. I think 4321 is better for now. Maignon, Calabria, kalulu, ramagnoli, theo, florenzi (diaz), tonali, saelesmaeker, leao, rebic and Zlatan.

    1. absolutely correct in the Florenzi selection with him at mid, he has played there before ,Baka seems clueless at times just “wandering” reactionary versus pro active. Diaz get pushed off the ball to easily.

  2. Pls no leao-ibra. Ibra-rebic best pairing. Both know each other well and leao doesnt prefer ibra. So ur strongest side is left and is the weaker side of most of the keepers. From there u would like ur striker to come and score. And thats where ibra score from. Ibra and leao probably have some issue but rebic has a really good relationship with ibra and that said he isreally good against juve. Dont rebic-giroud so dum rebic dont even know giroud well. Milan attacked with striker from right in spezia thats why there were less goal. Keepers are strong on right side. But now u should not rely like krunic he like tries to pass from no where to ibra. So thats wrong. Krunic as attacking mid would mess up play him as mid instead of yoko and umm in the middle play daniel not brahim. Or maybe messias(ik ppl hate me now) but u know we dont have option and maybe messias is good in middle as he prefer that side more too

  3. Bennacer will not be available unless he gets back soon enough now that Algeria has tanked in Africa Cup. Diaz gets pushed off the ball too easily. Florenzi has played there before, these players are professionals they know how to play soccer at any position. Maybe not their strength but not a huge drop off.
